Golden State and Detroit didn't workout and why would they? The Warriors aren't setup to allow a young center (23 yrs old) to succeed and Detroit was never a good fit with Monty.

Eh, i'd rather trade for Ayton, and have Quin & Trae try to motivate him to be early Phoenix years Ayton.

Who are you giving up to match the $34 mil he is owed?

I could be wrong but wouldn't he cost us draft picks? Hunter and Cap don't see them an ideal trade for Portland.

I do like how Ayton has worked on his game. Getting away from the Suns has helped him develop and that experience probably drives him.

I mean that depends on how much Portland values him. I doubt it's costing us multiple picks.

I can't imagine anyone is trading a 1st for Ayton. A season ago he was dumped for Nurkic and had a worse overall performance.

Ris and Dyson are certainly two steps in the right direction. If Dyson can get to 35% or better from 3pt, he will be a very good starting SG

Now just need to do something with the frontcourt

Hartenstein has absolutely exceeded all expectations. My word...

Keep in mind, Hawks leadership was in flux during 2017 draft season. Newly hired Travis Schlenk drafted Tyler Dorsey just two spots before Hartenstein was taken.

I get that this dude may have been reluctant to come back to this team. But it really seems like we could have offered a larger role at a comparable rate of pay.

Not resigning Delon Wright is one of the more underrated Hawks gaffes of the last 3 years...

I'm no Schlenk apologist, but IH was always going to take several teams and seasons to get his footing. That's why drafting a pure center high is not a wise move for the most part.

OKC essentially paid for teams to develop him until he was ready to help them compete.

We are literally sitting on our hands refusing to do anything. Because our ownership and GM are too inept at their jobs.

Seeing centers fly off the shelves when we are gonna trot out old ass Clint Capela who can only rebound and miss open dunks.

Fun times.

The DJ trade needed to be completed to remain under the tax to use the MLE (if they planned to use it).
They just hired a new cap guru and they still screwed it up :nonono:

Indeed.
It's beyond frustrating to miss out on some of the young talent that was cheap. If we're frustrated, then Trae probably is too.

I never saw us as players in free agency until we figured out where Cap/Hunter were going. There's even a possibility that we just keep Capela, and only trade Hunter. If that happened, I could see OO being the starter, and Cap spelling him against bigger 5's.

I mean we still need to be capable of rebounding, and Cap is certainly elite at that(#1 ORB last year). Folks assumed Gobert was declining last year, and he bounced back to his normal play. Just saying, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Clint.

If we trade Hunter we better gain a great return. 38% from three but health is always a concern. I expect him to average a career high in field goal attempts this coming season.

Of course he can rebound, because all he does is stand there. Even if he pulls down ORB he had his worst offensive shooting seasons since his rookie year. What benefit is getting ORBs if you miss open dunks?
