I bet he loves Baze a lot...off the court. He won't blink twice in dealing him.

Nah, nah spud. Back away from macd on that one. It's a thinly-veiled attempt at suggesting Budz and Schlenk have a disconnect.

Sneaky, sneaky.

This might be the worse Hawks trade I've seen...(Cavs board)

Dedmon and Collins for Crowder, Zizic,
Cavs send their 2021 1st top 5 protected and the Miami 2020 2nd.
Collins could be used next to Love quite nicely. Dedmon provides rim protection and can stretch the floor a little bit
as Love primary backup on the 2nd unit.
This would make sense if we move Thompson in another deal for sure.
I'm pretty high on Collins and his activity around the rim would be very good for this roster.
The only hitch here is they might not have any interest in Crowder with Prince at the 3 unless they like Crowder at the 4(doubtful).
I would also consider moving Frye's expiring instead of Crowder if they prefer the cap relief.

KKen had a coniption fit and 'almost' got the ban hammer over there.

When it comes to going over to other boards, we need to be respectful. Calling out another fan base on their deals and what they propose on their board is just asking for trouble. We do the same as well here.

I'm not saying don't go over to their boards, I am saying that if you do go over just kindly state why Atlanta wouldn't do it (Atlanta is very high on Collins and feel he was a steal at his draft place. He has been very good both offensively and defensively as a rookie (top 10 in rookies in ppg, 2nd in fg%, , top 5 in rpg even though he plays 8 minutes less than the ones above him). Crowder is a nice piece, but I'm not sure if he is too much better than Prince now. The deal doens't make a ton of sense for Atlanta to give up a promising rookie).

Just think about the posts.

-dms269

But what we can do is post those deals over here and talk about them here. The deal is bad...really bad. Collins has been tearing it up, just wish he could stay out of foul trouble and get some more playing time.

I thought jayu's response there was good. Well thought-out explanation of why that deal sucked bonkey dalls.

Agree though that when traipsing into other teams' forums we should be respeckful. Shiiii, if them dudes come up in here with that nonsense, they gon' leave with a hole in 'em. (wha?)

FYI, I'm always respectful, this was my response yesterday....
Atlanta passes. They don't have an IMMEDIATE NEED to shed Baze's or Plumlee's contract at the cost of including 1st round picks. Hawks won't be players for high end free agents this offseason, so they'll use the $25+ mil in capspace to sign value short term contracts or rent the capspace for 1st round picks.
Hawks aren't waiting 4 years to add a possible top 10 pick to their top pick this year. Collins and the 2018 pick starts the rebuild process now.

I had the exact same thought.

Bazemore and Dennis (and Darvin Ham?) are the last real connections Budenholzer has to the last era of the Atlanta Hawks.

If we part ways with Bazemore, and knowing more losing is on the horizon...I do think that would weigh heavily on CMB once he reaches the decision making stage for contract renewal.

(Whenever the heck that might be.)

I think of it more as how hard is Bud going to fight to keep him if it's a trade of Baze for a late 1st? Baze is probably Bud's best development project. There again I think we don't give Bud enough credit for knowing that you have to make the right move at the right time.

Yeah. You asked a good question and made a fair point.

I remember Schlenk stating that it took Budenholzer some time to wrap his head around not re-signing Millsap.

I imagine this would be just as difficult for Bud to endorse.

Bud is on board with the rebuild - that's it. We are at ground Zero - whatever it takes to move forward.
And I think part of Bud's issue was having the dual role so he got close to the players, that is no longer the case. He's not making the decision. He'll have his say but it will ultimately fall to Schlenk.

^And you're able/willing to say this with 100% certainty?

Mike Budenholzer is committed to the franchise and the franchise is committed to keeping him here?

20 possible Hawks trades to get your appetite going before the deadline:

1. Marco Belinelli to Oklahoma City for the Thunder 2018 second-round pick (via Chicago) - Yes, but I think OkC would need to send us matching salary back
2. Marco Belinelli and Luke Babbitt to Denver for Trey Lyles and Malik Beasley
3. Marco Belinelli and Luke Babbitt to Milwaukee for D.J. Wilson and Rashad Vaughn.
4. Ersan Ilyasova to Boston for Semi Ojeleye and Aron Baynes
5. Dewayne Dedmon, Marco Belinelli and Atlanta’s 2018 first-round pick (via Houston) to Milwaukee for Jabari Parker, Thon Maker and Jason Terry
6. Dewayne Dedmon, Marco Belinelli and Hawks 2018 first-round pick (via Houston) to Cleveland for Tristan Thompson and the Cavs 2018 first-round pick (via Boston from Brooklyn)
7. Ersan Ilyasova to Oklahoma City for Kyle Singler, Terrance Ferguson and OKC’s 2018 second-round pick (via Chicago)
8. Ersan Ilyasova and Luke Babbitt to Charlotte for Malik Monk, Frank Kaminsky and Charlotte’s 2020 second round pick
9. Miles Plumlee and Hawks 2018 first-round pick (via Houston) to Dallas for Josh McRoberts
10. Dewayne Dedmon, Malcolm Delaney and Terrence Ross to Washington, Marcin Gortat and Chris McCullough to Orlando in exchange for Mario Hezonja, Tim Frazier, Khem Birch and the Wizards 2018 first-round pick.
11. Marco Belinelli and Luke Babbitt to Miami for Tyler Johnson and Justise Winslow.
12. Ersan Ilyasova to Minnesota for Cole Aldrich and Minnesota’s 2020 first round pick
13. Marco Belinelli, Ersan Ilyasova and Isaiah Taylor to San Antonio for Danny Green and Dejounte Murray
14. Marco Belinelli and Ersan Ilyasova to the Los Angeles Lakers for Corey Brewer and Larry Nance Jr.
Smaller Trades:
15. Malcolm Delaney and Luke Babbitt to Washington for Tim Frazier and the Wizards 2022 second round pick
16. Mike Muscala to Memphis for JaMychal Green
17. Luke Babbitt and Hawks 2020 second round pick to Chicago for David Nwaba
18. Luke Babbitt to Philadelphia for Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot
19. Miles Plumlee and Hawks 2018 second round pick to Indiana for Al Jefferson
20. Kent Bazemore and Luke Babbitt to Sacramento for Vince Carter, Justin Jackson and Georgios Papagiannis

^#11. Bellinelli and Babbit for Justise and Tyler Johnson sounds doable.

#6. Dewayne, Bellinelli and the HOU pick for Tristan and the Brooklyn pick would be masterful. But is completely unrealistic.

I'm sorry have I been watching the same Kent Bazemore who runs around the court like a chicken all day for the past 4 years and is having a better year this year because he's on our squad that features hardly any vets so he's getting numbers through his minutes???? That Kent Bazemore.

Bud won't bat a eyelid! I'm sorry but Baze is being showcased hard. Crunch the numbers all you want..once a headless chicken always a headless chicken.

That's on the court...Baze is awesome off it.
