Perhaps folks could be getting their wish on Randle the Handle coming here?

Demps shopped the Pels’ first-round pick and the onerous Omir Asik contract, with $14 million in guaranteed money to go over the next two years. The Pels talked to the Lakers and Hawks in a potential three-way deal, but then thought they had a deal with the Bulls for Nikola Mirotic, who would help pick up some of the scoring slack.

Article later mentions Clarkson but that doesn't seem to make sense for us.

That only makes sense if Baze is gone. Can't have $30+ million tied up in two SGs for the next 2 years.

Yep. Also, considering Clarkson is clearly involved, guys' dreams of seeing Randle in volt are probably still a no-go.

If we were taking Clarkson, what sweetener do either of these teams really have though? Isn't LAL's pick promised elsewhere? NOP's pick might be decent since I don't expect them to make the playoffs.

I'm all for trading with Demps since I believe he's pretty crappy as a GM. I also think his asst GM is crappy too but that's water under the ferry.

NBA Trade Rumors: Atlanta Hawks have pieces contenders should target

NBA Trade Rumors: The Atlanta Hawks will be big sellers at the trade deadline, and they have pieces that contenders should target
SIR Charles in Charge

The Hawks Should Trade Dennis Schröder to the Knicks

With the news coming out that Joakim Noah is unhappy in his current role with the New York Knicks, the Atlanta Hawks could put an offer on the table involving Dennis Schröder that the Knicks would have a hard time refusing.

The Atlanta Hawks have cap space to burn, and no clear reason to keep it until they get way, way better (perhaps for a time when a current Milwaukee Buck hits free agency in 2021). The Knicks are in dire need of a point guard of the future as Frank Ntilikina has not panned out so far – though, to be fair, he is only 19 years old in his rookie season.

Atlanta Hawks get C Joakim Noah, PG Frank Ntilikina, 2018 First-Round Pick

New York Knicks get PG Dennis Schröder, SG Marco Belinelli
Soaring Down South

These rumors are gonna get crazy between now and the deadline.

I got visibly upset reading that craptastic deal. "FrenchFrank hasn't panned out ... ship 'em to the Hawks, they'll take him ... just because, blah, blah." They should be trading us Noah and their 1st for Bellinelli alone. Why TF would be give up Dennis for the privilege of buying out Noah? Like, "Yay! We get to waste our money on your dumbarse mistake!"

Anyways, how soon should CLE be on the line with us to get 'Sova as a emoLove stopgap, btw?

Which Hawks player has the most trade value? Dennis Schroder is their most talented player. He’s still only 24-years old and his salary is mid-pack among starting point guards. But what I mean by trade value is: Which Hawks player are the Hawks willing to part with for a modest return, and who would be a logical target for a contending team.

My subjective choice: power forward Ersan Ilyasova, whose contract expires after this season.

Regular Hawks watchers probably wouldn’t be surprised to learn that Ilyasova leads the team in net rating (-3.3) among the six players with at least 900 minutes played. Ilyasova’s 53.2 effective field goal percentage this season is his best since the 2014-15 season.

Dan Favale at Bleacher Report, cites Marco Belinelli and Dewayne Dedmon as the Hawks with the most trade value for contenders. But, for different reasons, I don’t think either player has as much value as Ilyasova.

Ilyasova doesn’t come with the potential downsides of Belinelli (defense and inefficient scoring) or Dedmon (contract). He’s still a legit shooting big who is solid at everything else. Surely some contending teams have a short-term need for a veteran stretch four who won’t be a weak link defensively.

Ilyasova has been a good fit for the Hawks as they rebuild. He’s a solid veteran player with good work habits and play is a big reason the Hawks have been competitive most nights.
myAJC

Ironically, if we don't get offered enough to move Ilyasova in trade, I'd be willing to bring him back next season...if we draft D Ayton.

If'n we can fool another team to take Delaney or Musc, I'll call Schlenk a warlock.

PHX could be an option for Delaney considering Isaiah Canaan apparently went full-on Gordo Hayward on his lower leg last night. I haven't watched because folks were saying it was worse than Hayward's plus the bone was visible. Nah, I'll pass on that vid.

Now watch some jackleg like casemase post a gif here.

I'm ready for things to get moving but I'm thinking we only manage to trade Ersan and Dedmon. Baze maybe.

Ready for things to get moving huh...plums usually do the trick...oh, the trade thing...yeaaaaa...

That’s not happening until a week from now. Teams are just scared and they wait for each other to make a move...it’s been like this since Alf was being aired on television.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks discussed a trade of Dennis Schroder before Eric Bledsoe became available in October.

The Bucks traded Greg Monroe and a future first round pick to the Suns for Bledsoe, which was a similar package that they discussed with the Hawks for Schroder.

Schroder signed a four-year, $70 million extension with the Hawks in 2016.

I wonder who called whom.

Side note" Bucks offered Parker 3yr/$18 mil last fall - he declined.

So earlier in the summer, when Travis jumped in and helped LAC acquire Gallinari by taking on the contract of Jamal Crawford in exchange for the HOU pick-- I was initially critical of the move. I though the cap space we wasted on buying out Jamal Crawford could have been put to better use.

I was thinking that buying another low end Free Agent and rehabbing his value could help net us a better asset in trade. Now I see this and I have to wonder:

Half of the NBA Is Reportedly Bidding for Tyreke Evans

With the Grizzlies’ season in the tank, Memphis is looking to cash in on a career year from the veteran shooting guard—but the team wants a first-round pick in return

The Rumor: Everybody wants Tyreke Evans. According to The New York Times’ Marc Stein, the Sixers are interested in trading for the Grizzlies wing, and reports from Sporting News and Philly.com have the Thunder, Cavs, Heat, Rockets, and Celtics in the mix. Memphis is reportedly asking for a first-round pick in exchange for Evans.

Evans is also shooting 45.8 percent from the field — his highest mark since the 2012–13 season — and posting a career-high 52.6 effective field goal percentage.

...even if Evans does regress back to his mediocre mean, he’s on an expiring deal, anyway. That’s all to say: These rumors are legit, and though I don’t think Evans is worth the first-round pick the Grizzlies are asking for, I’d be shocked if Evans doesn’t end up getting moved.
The Ringer

Could our cap space have been better utilized buying a Tyreke or a Kentavious Caldwell-Pope on a short deal, improving their value, and then moving them for a pick potentially higher than #29? The way we seem to be doing with Dedmon.

Even if it was for a future pick?

I didn't hate the trade for Jamal Crawford, I just wasn't a huge fan of that decision. And Houston's pick being so incredibly late hasn't made it any better.

Thoughts?

If we had to do it again, should we be buying and selling Free Agents in the future for assets?
Or continue as a salary dumping ground?
Or some combination of both?

I don't really know the answer to your question but we don't know what was tried. 'Buying' free agents isn't that easy. I'm sure Evans figured the Grizz would be going to the playoffs when he signed there.

And KCP's deal is part of collusio..."canoodling" between his and LeBron's agent and Magic.

Thing is we never know how players are going to play. If Tyreke was on the Hawks would he be the same in Buds offense. He excels with the ball in his hands. The injury to Conley probably helped his minutes. Sometimes things just line up perfectly for a player.

There's a chance Aaron Gordon might be traded. Can we get in on that?
