Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna head out. Angry mob on the way...

Yeah. Hopefully, he puts all that he learned in college to good use. Has a decent NBA career, saves/invests properly and isn't broke in a decade like so many guys that leave the NBA.

2 offensive fouls that were totally bogus on Young. Other than that he's doing his thing so far. OK defense is pretty bad.

Did his team deserve a spot in Tourney? Or is it because of name recognition?

I don't know if OK deserves to be there or not. I'm saying yes because they play a pretty tough schedule i think? But I don't really know. They definitely look as good as Rhode Island. Were it not for 2 crazy foul calls on Trae, OK would have a comfortable lead.

I tell you what though, it can't be overstated that outside of Trae OK is not good. In fact, they are terrible. When he leaves the court everything falls apart. I bet he sat for about 4 minutes and they must have turned the ball over 6 times while he was on the bench.

I do think he's the real deal. He's a good passer. Draws a lot of attention and gets guys open.

OK had the credentials to make a case for inclusion in the NCAAtournament. But a few teams that had better cases were left out, so...

It's also worth noting that CBS featured the Oklahoma game on the main broadcast as the first televised game of the (real) tournament.

That's not a coincidence.

NOTE: The NBA team that drafts him can expect similar consideration early in Trae's career. That is...undeserved TV coverage as ESPN/TNT seek to benefit from the buzz that now follows this kid around.

The worse his teammates play without him on the floor, the better it is for Young's draft stock.

That was a perfect first half for Trae Young. He looked good on the floor, and when he was off it his team looked inept.

How could a Big Time sports program in a power conference have such a sub-par collection of players on their squad?

OK is like...terrible outside of Trae.

Yea, they're incredibly lucky that Trae decided to go there. Whether you buy into him or not (and I haven't for the majority of the season) it's impossible to deny his impact on the Sooners. He's legitimately carried them into the tourney single handedly, and looks poised to carry them out of the first round at least.

I can't figure that out either. The backup PG could barely get the ball up the floor. Trae's lack of speed and his wonky shot maybe cause for concern but neither have been huge issues this season. He sucks on D but seems to get some steals. I think his potential as an NBA PG is really good.

Yeah, my concern about his athleticism (or lack thereof) was assuaged by his production against Jevon Carter of West Virginia and Collin Sexton of Alabama.

Trae can't defend, but he can handle himself well against top man defenders. He'll thrive on an NBA team with shooters and better athletes to further spread the floor.

I see peak Mike Bibby as a reasonable expectation -- with All Star Steve Nash as his ceiling

When he gets doubled he finds the open man. His passing and vision is good. Can't figure out why RI isn't attacking his D more.

And now we see the flaws and immaturity in Trae's game. As URI plays well and begins to pull away, Trae becomes ball dominant and tries to play hero ball.

He was 4/4 in the first half.

And is now 0/4 in the second.

It's a result of poor judgment and a lack of poise. :(

Ahhh, to be 19 again.

Whoa. I"m seeing a different game. All I see is Trae passing the ball and it never coming back to him as a bunch of glorfied high schoolers try to make a bucket. 4 shots in the second half doesn't seem like hero ball to me.

Currently getting schmashed by a 150lb non-NBA guard on defense. His teammates fault?

I'm just messing with you, macd. I said last week that these tourney results should mean nothing in his or any other players' analysis. That said, as @jammamdkflsa;hliver said, his weaknesses are on display this game. Well, they've been on display the last 2 months but that's neither here nor there.

That's because you forgot to take off your Trae-colored glasses.

I'll lean on your analysis as I'm at work and attempting to sneak as many views on the lobby TV as possible.

But he's now 0/5 in the second half.

Oklahoma is so bad...

OK is the better team here. Being out-worked, out-executed. They should win this game.
