Re: Trade assets - current draft picks
well...it's official:
We currently have top-6 and #30 overall secured. Now we just gotta pull for the T-Wolves to fall to #8 in the west.
myAJCThe Hawks will have at least two and as many as three first-round picks in the 2018 draft. Their own pick will be in the draft lottery, with the odds to be determined by the final standings.
The Hawks also will own the Rockets’ first-round pick via a previous trade. Houston (52-14) clinched a playoff spot on Sunday, thus assuring that the top-3 protected pick will go to the Hawks.

They better. It'd be weird if we ended up with the #1 and #30 though. Bookend the first round.

Little bit.
I really hope we also get either #31 or #32 as our second round selection.
We can grab an additional fringe first round talent on the flexibility of a 2nd round contract.
(Devonte Graham? Isaac Bonga?)

This is a big 'if'.
I do wonder, why would Moose re-up with us on a bargain 1-yr contract if he knows we're likely to flip him?

I guess if he can't get something better it maybe a way to get back on a playoff team quickly. I can't believe that Boston or Washington didn't trade for him this year.

Ya I agree. Brad Stevens would have a field day with him. If we were in a different situation as a team in rebuilding I’d want to keep him but a nice asset works too.

That CLE clarification tells me we want LeBron to stay in CLE because they aren’t winning 35 games without him. So let’s plan on another 1st rounders next year and package that to move DS to Mil.

Just don't understand how you can get a pick with protection first, and no protection on last year (seems logic because you have waited for some years without getting the pick) and... a pick where the last year of protection leads to the pick being change by 2nr pick... so exactly the opposite of the first kind of pick.

Re: Trade assets - current draft picks
I'm excited about that Dallas pick. It can be a real treasure in our suddenly not-so-barren war chest. If Dallas is terrible and ends up in the top five next year, that pick can still potentially be an incredible asset in a trade.
The jump up in the lottery legitimately added that pick to our collection. We could've easily slipped to five, and just selected Young there anyway with no addition of the pick.

What's really funny...most of us by then will be like...'Jeremy Lin used to play for the Hawks?'
This deal is largely inconsequential beyond this season, I had to be reminded Lin played for the Lakers and Hornets.
If he goes to Orlando next summer...he'll have the same list of former teams as Dwight Howard.
