Total assist:

Trae Young 587
Cade Cunningham 470
Tyrese Halinurton 442
James Harden 438
.
.
.
.
Russel Westbrook 307

The gap between Trae/Harden in assist is about 150, but they are only separated by 18 TO's.

James Harden has a player option this off-season with the LA Clippers.

Trae Young might be the replacement for them.

Trae Young has made 40% of his shot attempts in 1 of his last 5 games. Twice in eight games.

Shooting us right out of games.

We get it Trae is struggling shooting this year, but overall he's playing and running the team the way Quin wants him to by getting off the ball early and keeping the ball moving.
As long as guys are hitting the shots he sets them up for.

Trae's team defense has improved
Trae's stated turning down some of those long threes and actively avoids long twos.
I've come to terms with his turnover rate.

But I do not/can not understand why his floater game has fallen off since year 3. It was literally the strongest/most important part of his scoring arsenal.

Trae has been on fire as if late. How he shot the ball last game against Miami is what I hope he averages for a season.

47% from the field
29 points
12 ast
2 stls

He has been shooting 50% from the field in a couple of gsmes and 60% in another. Trae shaking off the ice into stardom.

Trae is 1st in clutch points, 1st in ast, and 1st in 3PM in the clutch.

Looks like Quin's offense is generating plenty of open shots for Trae...and he's absolutely terrible at hitting them.

It's time to have a serious conversation bout the Trae Young era in Atlanta...

Maybe, but the conversation isn't and shouldn't be about TOs. Context and nuance is so important.

Some great points made in this thread from the GB.

I think it has to be at least a part of the conversation.

  • Trae's erratic shooting
  • combined with his high number of turnovers
  • along with massive defensive issues

...make it very difficult to build a competent roster around him.

I'm not pushing him out the door, but it's been 7 years now.
And we've never won 44 games in a Trae Young Season.

Is all the the pain worth it if next year we stay healthy, win 48 games...and then lose in the 2nd round of the playoffs?
