Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
ESPN Insider2024 NBA draft rankings
16. Stephon Castle | PG/SG | UConn
Castle projects quite well defensively at the next level, with plus positional size and lateral agility that should allow him to switch on the perimeter and corral ball handlers. NBA teams have questions about his offensive game that will ultimately determine how high he gets selected. Castle turned in a good showing over the weekend against Seton Hall, but he has faded into the background at times against better competition while struggling to score consistently from range. The pre-draft process will be crucial for him to allay the concerns about his shooting and inspire confidence in his long-term upside. The appeal as a big two-way guard is there, but Castle might be better suited on the wing for the long term.

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
I don't love him as a prospect.
But if he's available outside the top-10, that's too good of value to pass on.
Especially in a world where Trae is no longer a Hawk.

Thoughts on Rob D as a potential PG replacement for Trae and DeJounte?

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
Is this kid #1 in your books, too?
Or do you all value Risacher's perimeter scoring more next to Jalen (and Okongwu)?
Serious Question: What is the real difference in pure talent between Alex Sarr vs Kel'el Ware?

He moved up my board massively but not for the reasons you think.
I don't see a big man. I see a big wing. I don't see a great physical frame, but I see great physical attributes. I love his lateral mobility. Reminds me of Johnathan Bender. I honestly think the BBIQ is there on the perimeter. He could even up a 3 level scorer. He has that type of potential and he's a good ball handler for his size. Good in transition with the ball too. I see a better Jaden McDaniels when I watch this kid in terms of how he can help a team today in the NBA. I don't see any big man actions from him. Screens are meh at best and he doesn't look to like it. His post game is nonexistent. He's a 3 to me.
Ware is a 5. Sarr isn't. Ware issue is He's undersized, has motor and effort questions but he can run big man actions and he can post up and do a decent job using his athleticism and footwork to score.
Ware is like Jarrett Allen without the bulk and has shades of Mo Bamba to me.
If teams use Sarr wrong, he will be a bust. If you are drafting for a center, Ware is a 11-25 range guy and Sarr is a 2nd rounder.
If you are drafting for the best prospect, draft Sarr and have a tremendous development plan

Re: 2024 NBA Draft Thread
6'5" 3 & D Point Guard.
Could be a solid contender for the Sacramento Pick.
Could be a solid contender for the Sacramento Pick.
The RingerTyrese Proctor | Duke | Sophomore
6'5" | 185 lb | Center | 20 years old
Tall point guard with great feel, passing vision, and a knack for making tough shots.
Shades of: Lonzo Ball
PLUSES
- Beautiful passer who can use either hand to fire darts around the floor. He makes some lefty passes that few players would even think to attempt. There’s a confidence and fearlessness to his playmaking, yet he also limits mistakes.
- Improving shooter who has made nearly 40 percent of his catch-and-shoot 3s and 80 percent of free throws in college, per Synergy. It’s an encouraging development compared to his up-and-down performances at lower youth levels. Combined with his good touch near the rim, perhaps this progress is real.
- Flashes potential when scoring from midrange. He’s capable of creating space with crossovers and various off-the-dribble moves.
- Long-armed defender who plays with heart, effort, and IQ both on and off the ball.
MINUSES
- Shooting must improve to maximize his shot-creation ability. He struggles against tight contests off the catch, and is currently a nonfactor off the dribble from range. He does, however, display some midrange ability if he’s given space.
- Below-the-rim finisher who doesn’t explode at the basket. Despite his height, he’s also more of a finesse player than a power driver, so he doesn’t draw many fouls.
- Lacks elite athletic traits, both vertically and with his first step. He may be better suited as one of multiple creators on a team, rather than as a lead option.
