When the #1 for #2 trade was a possibility, I proposes getting #26 and Tristan.

I really can't blame him for wanting to start.atlantabbq99 wrote:HMFFL wrote:Jalen Smith will enter free agency after declining player option

I'm a huge Jalen Smith fan and I hope he signs with the Hawks, but Smith wants to be a starter. He will sign with a team , even a bad team that will promise him +25mpg or even a starting spot.
I could see a team like Dallas, Clip, Bulls, Heat, Wiz, maybe offering him minutes or even a starting spot.
I'd love to have him too. A big man that can do many things and has range. He's worked very hard on his craft.

Re: Young Center Prospects to Consider
Hey, remember that time the Hawks had a chance to draft a young Big Man to be the cornerstone of their team on a value contract for the next decade?
They probably should have...
They probably should have...
The RingerTwo-big lineups are back
The Celtics just won the NBA title with Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford sharing the court. The Timberwolves dominated all year with Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns in the middle. And teams like the Bucks, Cavaliers, and Magic have also leaned heavily on two-big lineups. Now the rest of the league is catching on.One-third of the NBA could frequently deploy two-big lineups next season. After the small-ball era, the bigs are back once again.
- The Thunder added Hartenstein to pair with Holmgren,
- the Heat selected Kel’el Ware to join a frontcourt led by Bam Adebayo,
- and the Grizzlies took Zach Edey to play with Jaren Jackson Jr.
- Even young teams like the Wizards (Alex Sarr and Jonas Valanciunas)
- and the Trail Blazers (Deandre Ayton and Donovan Clingan) are sizing up.

Wanted him when I thought we'd get the Kings pick.

Interesting...
Quin and Trae could move literally any (and all) of these Centers into more efficient offensive shots.

Re: Young Center Prospects to Consider
What happens when two defensive prospects with no 'offensive bags' face off in the desert?

At this point feeling pretty good that he didn't want to be a Hawks. Almost feel bad for Wiz
Clingan looked a little better but only on the D side

I feel his pain...

I just don't see what separates Alex Sarr from Kel'el Ware. Kel'el at least projects to be a long time starter who can play next to Okongwu or Jalen Johnson because of his floor spacing.
(I fear Alex Sarr may end up being a PF long term.)

Re: Young Center Prospects to Consider
I truly believe the proper play for us was to trade down, take Donovan and grab a wing in the 2nd round...
Kid looks like a true defensive anchor.

Good. What doesn't work in College will work in the NBA and he probably showed in pre draft workouts that he has more range. Future HOF'er.

Not often do teams trade out of the #1 spot and it's because they get to pick who they believe is the anchor.Jamaaliver wrote:I truly believe the proper play for us was to trade down, take Donovan and grab a wing in the 2nd round...
