^So we're all in agreement, Budenholzer selected Arizona to win it all (a terrible selection BTW), just to curry goodwill with Ayton when we draft him in a few months. Cool!!

Deandre Ayton Declares for 2018 NBA Draft After Loss to Buffalo

Arizona center Deandre Ayton announced his intentions to go pro after the Wildcats' stunning NCAA men's tournament upset loss to Buffalo on Thursday, per Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer.

Ayton was dominant during his freshman season, averaging 20.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game. According to Sports Reference, he finished the year ranked second in the country in total win shares with 5.4.

He was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year as well as Freshman of the Year, also earning a spot on the conference's All-Defensive team.

While the 7'1", 250-pound big man was a force inside, he also showcased his versatility with a face-up game and a jump shot. According to Hoop-Math, only 48.2 percent of his shots were at the rim, and he knocked down 43.8 percent of his two-point jumpers and 36.4 percent of attempts from behind the arc.

Too much taken from a freshman playing in a single tournament game?

I'd still like to see him go back to college for another year.

'I Don't See It': NBA Scouts, Execs Doubting Trae Young After NCAA Tourney Exit

NBA scouting departments are turning on Oklahoma's Trae Young, whose historic freshman season ended with an 83-78 overtime loss to Rhode Island in the NCAA tournament.

"I would not take him in the lottery," one scout responded after the game.

"Not a fan," replied an Eastern Conference executive. "Love his passion and dedication, but he must learn to be more efficient."

Though he leads the country in scoring and assists, questions have popped up over the legitimacy of his production, style of play, plummeting efficiency and defensive effort.

Despite going for 28 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the first round, Young showed unsettling negatives as well, including questionable 30-foot hero shots in crunch time, careless passing (six turnovers) and hands-down defense on shooters.

Yeah, Collin is a pitbull and has really raised eyebrows with his tourney play for the SEC and CAA brackets.

I don't know if he can lead a team to contention or even run an efficient offense. But the kid is aggressive and willput numbers at the next level:

Code: Select all

Collin Sexton led Alabama to a victory over Virginia Tech in a slugfest of a game in Pittsburgh. The freshman phenom posted 25 points on just 14 shots from the field, doing most of his damage sealing the game at the free throw line. Three Hokies fouled out, with many of their fouls coming trying to keep Sexton out of the lane.

Villanova’s guards can play with anyone, but they will be tested by Sexton on Saturday.

Regarding Trae Young:

Read on Twitter

Sooners’ season here Thursday rather interesting.

“I would love for him to think about coming back and maybe being national player of the year next year,” Rayford Young said, sitting in the front row of the arena after Rhode Island beat Oklahoma 83-78 in overtime. “But it’s his career, his life.”

At a time when it’s never been more clear how many young star basketball players are considered commodities by agents, coaches, sneaker execs and even some parents, here was a father thinking of something far different than how soon his son can become rich. He was thinking about a second year of college for his kid.

What a concept.

the ultimate epitaph for the 32-game Trae Young Era, if it is now over at Oklahoma: he elevated the program, but his singular dominance also capped the program’s growth.

Heh, think a little bigger. Why would Budz need to curry any favor with a potential draftee .... unless he already knows the Hawks are getting the cold-envelope treatment in the draft.

To be fair, his warts are huge and have been huge all year. To me, it's not about that 1 game.

Dude is small, takes horrible shots, is lazy on both O and D and did I mention he takes horrible/terri-bad shots.

He's not Curry, not even close. That's why, as of this morning, I've finally done it. I've given Young a new address squarely in the middle of EZPassLane.

@macd, I'm sorry. But it had to be done.

Teenager with elite vision, passing, shooting has the unprecedented accomplishment of leading the nation in scoring and assists...and you can't find a single optimistic evaluation for what he might grow into in a few years?

Have you never heard the phrase 'curry favor' or has your hate for all things "Curry" caused selective amnesia in your brain? I bet you don't even eat curry chicken.

I’m still on the Trae Young wagon. The kid knows the game too well....just because he has inadequate teammates (maybe) and a crappy coach (Freddy Kruger) shouldn’t discourage teams from taking him. Get him with Bud and we good.

Having said that, I’d rather have Ayton, Doncic, Porter, Bagley, Mikal or Bamba.

Nah, I'm done trying to talk him into being better than he is. Great college player.

Great NBA player? Nah, not close.

Really good NBA player? Eh, probably not.

NBA player**? Probably, in the right situation.

** Not a guy I'd pick in the lottery.

So you’d pass on him with the 14th pick to select Lonnie Walker IV at 14? You said the lottery. You really hate this kid’s guts don’t you? Is it his whiny voice? Is it his baby body? Is it his thinning curls? Is it his 70’s porn stache? I gotta know!!!

Heh, "baby bod"? Is that better or worse than 'dad bod'?

I just don't like his game. That's all. The 'stache almost elevates him to #1 on my list.
