B Simmons for Collins and Bogi

We lost spacing by losing Huerter and Gallo, and getting Murray that is not a great 3pts shooter.
If we do this trade, we lost again, especially Bogi, and add another guy who won't create spacing.
It would be terrible. Trading for Simmons, maybe, but not by including Bogi.
Once again, the team was at his best last seasons with Bogi on the floor, how can you want to trade this guy who is on a good contract?
If we trade him, it has to be for a sure thing that fix a real problem.

DM going to need to get paid. Hawks won't be able to take on Simmons' contract.

Hawks will have to trade Collins for a 2nd round pick and find a team to take Collin's huge contract off the books.

Kyle Kuzma interest?

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10057821-nba-trade-rumors-wizards-kyle-kuzma-interests-hawks-suns-ahead-of-deadline

lost six of their last seven games and fallen to 10th place in the Eastern Conference, the Washington Wizards could have some big decisions to make looking ahead to the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 9.

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Kyle Kuzma has caught the attention of several teams, including the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns, if Washington decides to move on from the 27-year-old forward.

Kuzma and if you could extract Krispert for Collins works for me. You'd likely need to include JJ.

Kuz is about half of JC's salary. Need to add a bunch of players to make it work. I don't see it happening

I would assume any team that trades for him would already need to discuss an extension with him. I believe he will receive offers in the $20 million range on the open market.

Saddiq Bey interests me greatly.

As do Hachimura and Kispert.

I'd prefer to keep Collins and get a new coach at this point. Selling low on Collins just to do another salary dump is just bad asset management.

(I do wonder if that deformed finger is the cause of his poor shooting and rebounding, though.)

Peace. Would this be a possibility in your minds?

Collins & the rights to Sharife Cooper for Kuzma & Hachimura?

It's a decent place to start negotiations. But Hawks had three 1st round draft picks in 2019. Hachimura was not mentioned to be of interest at any point during that process. Haven't heard of any interest in the following years, either. Especially with the fact that Rui hasn't really excelled in WAS when giving ample opportunity... :dontknow:

But, you're in the ballpark offering Kuzma and a wing.

Kyle can opt out after this season, right?

Coop is no longer with the Hawks DCfan. Kuz will opt out of that 13m and be looking for something north of 20 per. Lakers will have cap space, and word is he wants to play for them. With that, it'll likely take another small piece from the Wiz to make the Hawks bite.

Thanks for the feedback! I guess it would need to be something like Morris, Kuzma and Hachimura for Collins.

It doesn't sound like you guys are wild about the idea.

I think the Hawks lose too much on defense with Kuz.
I don't think Kuz's 26 usage rate on offense will translate on the Hawks.
He is shooting 30% from 3
He's older than Collins
He'll be an UFA that can sign where ever he wants.

i'm guessing the Pacers would offer a 1 year rental of Turner for Collins..... This would be great, as Trae need more post defense then anything else.

I think it would cost us more than just Collins. Are we preworee to extend Turner and we he would first need to be open to an extension.

No extension for Turner unless he takes a pay cut. I would let Collin and Turner walk and go after Bojan Bogdanovic or Harrison Barnes. Hawks could also shoot for the stars and try to go after Jerami Grant or go cheap and get Kevin Love.

Hawks need to start managing there contract in 2023 to get an extension for DM

Turner is an expiring contract and looking for a raise and he has been on the trade block longer than Collins. Hawks aren't giving up any assets for a potential FA who has already said it is his intention to hit FAcy. An extension to his current contract is limited to how much he can make. It would be in his interest for him to hit FAcy and test the market.

I could see a desperate team like the Mavs overpaying for Turner.

A pay cut? At $18m per season he's already been viewed as having a friendly contract. I don't expect him to take less unless he just wants to play for a certain system.

We aren't going to get a 17ppg/7rebs/2.3blks big man that's shooting three pointers at 43% without giving up more than John Collins. 1.7 three pointers a game is his career high. Blocks are way down from the previous two seasons.

John Collins at $25 million next season and $26 million the next won't appeal to most teams.
