Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread (Part 2)
Man, if we could find a way to acquire Andrew Wiggins while keeping Collins and our top-5 draft pick this summer...that'd be wonderful.
Any ideas?

On this...I'd agree.
I suspect there are a few other coaches who'd love to get a shot coaching Wiggins as well.

Yes, of course. It'll take me a minute to move on to the next coach topic. That's why my comment was in purple font

It's all good.
We're all a bit brokenhearted at this point.

Can anyone come up with a Schro trade that works and doesn't make us cry?

Sometimes the best trade is no trade.

The RingerHave the Raptors Hit Their Ceiling?
Limited Options on the Trade Market for Toronto
It’s tough to find any potential trades that make sense. Most ideas feel like rearranging chairs.
Would a package of Hawks wing Kent Bazemore and big man Mike Muscala for Ibaka and future picks really move the needle?

I'm not against that depending on the picks involved.

Muscala would need to opt in. No cost savings to the Raptors in 2018-19 season, Saves $4 mil in 2019-20, more if Baze opts out (highly unlikely). Raptors have no pick this year so it'll be a furure pick and it will more than likely be a late pick.
Raptors problem is that their stars shrink in the playoffs.
Baze helps on the wing but he can't guard Lebron either.
Moving Baze and Muscala actually saves us a couple mil in capspace this offseason. Same contract length as Baze but slightly more ($3-$4 mil).
Is that worth a future 1st. I guess so.

Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread (Part 2)
I am in love with our position this off season. 4 top 35 draft picks. Cap flexibility up from 27 to 34 million. A lot of non guarantees which can play a hand in any trades.
The goal is simple this off season:
Get more lottery picks in this draft.
Especially one more top 10 pick.
Maintain draft flexibility. I would love to leave this class with three lottery picks.
Avoid terrible contracts without great value in return.
Be open to Bazemore trades where we get to move up. For example: Bazemore/19 for Galo/13. Bazemore played excellent Basketball this year and finally played up to his contract. Bazemore trade ups need to be looked into.
Unless the value is there, keep Dennis.
That's pretty much it.
Dedmon and Moose will probably wait till after or around the draft to opt in or out. So there might be a trade we can make with them.

That's tempting, but that ties up the Hawks flexibility for 2 seasons: Gallo at $21m and $22m with Bazemore ($18m and $19m) and Plumlee ($12.4m and $12.4m). Our GM is interested in taking on salary for 1sts, yes, but he still wants to maintain some financial flexibility every offseason just in case a FA comes calling (unlikely but still) or a trade for a young player.

I figured this would be more of a taking 2019 free agency off to have a young core and TONS of cap space in 2020 kind of move. Another top 5 2019 pick and this years pick with cap space is tempting.

Like I said, it's highly unlikely that we'll be big FA players but it still doesn't mean the GM wants to be financially inflexible in case another move presents itself, maybe it's a trade for a young player.NYG wrote:jayu70 wrote:NYG wrote:Danilo Gallinari, 2019 Lottery Protected Nuggets 1st and 2021 Top 5 Protected Clippers 1st to Hawks

Not really that interested at all. I would rather the 12th pick in this years draft. To be frank, I am not that interested from LAC take as well. If they can clear Gallo contract and resign Jordan to the range most GM's in the NBA think he's worth which is around 13-15 per, they would be in prime position to sign PG13 this offseason. I think LAC would just drop Denver period and Atlanta would request that 12th pick. I personally think this trade is trash to be honest from Atlanta's take. I really don't like it from LAC stance as well. It's clearly a great deal for LAC, you trade a terrible contract for just a goofy 1st in 2021. Yeah, this is trash my friend. Go back to the drawing board.
If all it cost Denver to get rid of terrible contracts is a lottery protected 2019 1st. They would have been traded these guys.
A good counter is Gallo/12th pick for the TPE. This gives LAC flexibility as they can still move their 2019 pick. If they wanted to add someone in a trade with it to free up more salary for a FA this class.

Sorry Jay, I don't find this tempting at all.
I value that cap space far more than what this NYG guy does. I really want value similar to what Brooklyn got. Where they traded TPE for D'Angelo Russell and Mosgov contract.
That's the type of deal I am looking for. I am will to take smaller expiring contracts on one-year deals from LT teams for late 1st if that's not available.

Uuuummm....you have posted a Gallo trade here and other places directly with the Clippers and I had the same concerns regarding tying up capspace for 2 full years when you include Baze and Plumlee leaving us with no flexibilty in the 2019 offseason. Unless we are able to move one of Baze or Plumlee I had no interest in your trade proposal then either.
Besides in NYGs trade he doesn't say how many years the 1sts are in play, just another reason to pass on the trade.

I agree about Plumlee add. Gallo and a future 1st for Plumlee is reasonable
