2024 Prospect Spotlight: Donovan Clingan

I am very high on Clingan fit with the Hawks in general. One of the few optimal fits for Atlanta even if I don't believe he's the best fit for Trae.

Of true centers, I have him as the best functional athlete in this draft

Defensively, he's reminds me of a lesser Kessler.

Offensively, I see a lot of Vlade Divac with plus athleticism for his height.

While I don't see superstar potential. I wouldn't count him out to develop into a star on offense. There is signs of stardom in his game but he really has to unlock that jumpsuit and take his passing to the next level.

I think he's a fit anywhere to be honest.

I don't see him as a top 5 pick in most drafts but this one is ass and he's probably a top 5 pick in this one. Normally, he's 8-15 range.

Not my favorite prospect, but there is value and he has a very high floor as a rebounder, shot blocker and offensive hub.

His free throw percentage needs to greatly improve. Sadly, big men tend to not improve in this area.

I often lamented that Capela was pulled out to the perimeter to engage in DHOs this season. That's ain't CC's game.

But Donovan is much more adept at those types of plays. His passing is pretty solid and would add a useful wrinkle to our offense.

Reluctant to draft Clingan, but wouldn't hate it if we add other assets in the process.

If Hawks do draft this kid, it will be nice to have one of the bigger, stronger, more mobile Centers in the league at our disposal.

DC can guard Embiid, Jokic in single coverage. He will have a massive size advantage over Bam Adebayo and Mark Williams.

If he can develop that corner 3, he becomes a better rebounding Brook Lopez.

I feel like alot of people are starting to overhype DC. He won't be the next Bill Walton, at best he could be another Gobert. He is defiantly not worth the #1 pick but Clingan could be an elite role player or glue guy like Horford or Draymond.

Yeah, I don't think the Hawks are foolish enough to take a solid but limited center at #1 when they already have three of them on the roster.

I do think a team like Memphis will try to get up to 5 or 6 to nab him, though.

Are you saying Clingan is Divac on offense?
Vlade had elite ball handling, passing (in open court and halfcourt) and shooting ability on offense. Wasn't a speedster but he was agile. Clingan is not.

DC's fit in a Quin offense is enticing. But dude is too limited to be the top pick in a draft class. He will likely not end up the best player to come into the league this summer.
