As far as monetary savings go this deal does that but could also be tweaked to get ATL another $4 mil + in savings by adding Brezec/Herrmann for Zaza if Dumars really really wanted Marv/Chill and BK really really wanted extra savings to go through with the deal.
I really like that sweetener. Clearing that extra 4M would give the flexibility to finish out the roster in the off season to add a PG and backup big. I think the deal itself makes us better during the remainder of Joe's deal. Couple it with the right free agent moves and we could find ourselves battling it out with Boston and Detroit at the top of the East as soon as next year.
Again I doubt that BK does it, but I think it improves our team now and over the next 2 years. Further down the road and it probably shifts to Detroit if Marvin hits superstardom. I'll chance it.
