Final NBA mock draft 2018: Celtics trading Jaylen Brown for lottery pick?

3. Boston Celtics via Atlanta Hawks

The trade: Boston sends Jaylen Brown and Memphis’ 2019 first rounder (top-eight protected) to Atlanta for the No. 3 overall pick.

The pick: Luka Doncic, SG, Slovenia

The reason: The best prospect in the draft fall’s into Danny Ainge’s lap. The Hawks play the long game, taking back a young asset and a pick that could turn into something special down the line. Is the potential two-for-one worth it for Atlanta? Time will tell.

Boston now gets to roll out this group in 2018-19: Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic, Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum and Al Horford. Add in Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier and Marcus Morris off the bench and the picture of a dynamic eight-man rotation is present.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

19. Atlanta Hawks (via Timberwolves)

The pick: Khyri Thomas, SG, Creighton

The reason: The Hawks can totally remake their rotation in this first round. This team won't be good in 2018-19, but it will be fun to watch.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

30. Atlanta Hawks (via Houston Rockets)

The pick: Hamidou Diallo, SF, Kentucky

The reason: Atlanta needs to land as many lottery tickets as possible. Every Kentucky kid fits that bill.

Or at least pay more!

J Brown, Rozier, #27, The Clippers Pick, The Grizzlies pick for Doncic

I might consider that. Otherwise I'm not trading out of the top-10.

Only if Dedmon gets to punch Delly in the nuts once! Then I’d do it.

Reports is that Andrew Wiggins wants out.

Would this work or be ok?

Bazemore and 2 first round picks for Wiggins?

2 1st round picks???? Naah.
Teams barely want to give up one. If you hate Baze's contract now, you'll be really hating Wiggins at $25 million for the next 5 years.

Few weeks ago, I threw out Baze and #19 but after Jimmy Butler had concerns about his work ethic, I'm not interested.

This is not a move we should be making now in year 2 of the rebuild.

I'm hoping Schlenk is playing the long game. This free agency class and the next offers bad depth for pgs. The next draft class looks historically bad for anyone trying to find a worthwhile point guard.

DS and pgs in general will rise in value very soon. It's simple supply and demand. Just have to hold tight for proper deals.

Wiggins' value has diminished with each passing year in the league IMO. He went from being lauded as the next big thing in Highschool to now being a volume shooting, score first guy who doesn't really play defense or play-make. That contract may turn into an albatross soon as well.

I'm thinking he is based on the excerpt from NBA radio courtesy of kg01...

Making sure you don't shortcut. Decision (to tank) is made. Mistake is getting impatient. Keeping owners/fans engaged is most important.

We dont want to sign anybody that can impact our wins dramatically this year. Not that Wiggins would do that anyways...not a good fit for this stage of our rebuild. Pass.

Do you think the Hawks would have said yes to Doncic + #30 + Bazemore for Young + Dallas 2019 1st + Wes Matthews expiring

I'm not sure they would have wanted to give up 30 unless they were certain that Spellman would have been there at 34.

If we'd selected Doncic (and other upperclassmen) last week in the draft...I'd jump at this.

A core built around Wiggins, Doncic, Taurean, Collins (and Khyri Thomas/Aaron Holiday) would be flush with young talent all ready to contribute now.

But we're now fully entrenched in the long rebuild and, sadly, this is no longer a viable option.

Nah, it's cool. TSchlenk is eye-balling three drafts. The last and the next two. Last brought in #5, #19, #30 and a likelyly top 10 pick next draft. Love it. Oh and two high seconds. Next draft we should be lokking at a top 5, top 10 and the CAVS first plus a bunch of nice seconds.

In the meantime, the kids are developing and still have vet trade assets. Next draft TS will also swing some draft assets forward to 2020 draft, another nice pick or three and rebuild is done. Voila

Yet he stays and it’s a 23-30 pick.
