Third time in the last 4 draft classes that their 1st round pick misses the entire rookie season due to injury.

NEW YORK KNICKS SIGN GARRISON MATHEWS TO AN EXHIBIT 10 CONTRACT

NEW YORK, September 16, 2025 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed Garrison Mathews to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Mathews, 28-years-old (6-6, 215-pounds), averaged 7.5 points (39.0-percent 3PT), 1.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.8 three-pointers over 17.7 minutes in 47 games (two starts) for the Atlanta Hawks this past season. He recorded a season-high 25 points (87.5% FG, 87.5% 3PT), two rebounds, one assists, two steals, and tied a career-high with seven three-pointers against Minnesota (Dec 23), which made him the second player in the NBA last season to finish a contest with at least 25 points on 85.0-percent-or-better three-point shooting (min. seven 3PT).

I think his leadership and experience on the court will be missed, but shooting 37% from the field was a problem. I expected FVV to be involved in trade rumors but not now since he's injured.
