7. The FBI says that NBA player Terry Rozier told the defendants that he was going to leave a game early on March 23, 2023, with an injury. The defendants then placed more than $200,000 of wagers on the unders for his prop bets, with Rozier leaving the game after nine minutes. Those bets paid out tens of thousands of dollars in profits, and the defendants and Rozier counted the money at his house.

The FBI is doing just fine, jam.
This looks very serious even if Billups didn't play a big role. I like Billups as well, always have, but this will.be setious for many people.

Interesting that they waited until the first week of the NBA Season to deploy these arrests -- making them as high profile as possible.

I don't believe that is a coincidence.

With The mafia? Possible way to laundering money. :nonono:

1. That's a fair point.

2. I do wonder if it is presented/advertised as mafia related gambling to all the participants.

But i digress....Chauncey's career in the NBA is in real jeopardy at this point.

But now this...

Person matching Chauncey Billups' description allegedly shared Trail Blazers tanking information with bettors

Prior to the March 24 Game, Co-Conspirator 8 told the defendant ERIC EARNEST that the Trail Blazers were going to be tanking (i.e., intentionally losing) to increase their odds of getting a better draft pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Co-Conspirator 8 told EARNEST, before the news was publicly announced, that several of the Trail Blazers' best players, including Player 1, an individual whose identity is known to the Grand Jury, would not be playing in the March 24 Game. The information that the Trail Blazers would be tanking and not playing Player 1 was not available to the public, including the Betting Companies.

Wow, the league didn't feel obligated to tell the Miami Heat? I wonder what Pat Riley thinks.

When Aaron Gordon was on Orlando I always wanted him on the roster.

He just scored 50 points. A nice leap from his high of 41 points.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
