Mobility? I dunno out of all the top center prospects I like Hayes if I’m gonna use it on a center. Bol could still be a trade down wildcard.

Hayes looks unorthodox in a bunch of ways but somehow he seems like a grinder. He reminded me a bit of a more under control Joakim Noah...not sure if that’s a lazy comparison though so don’t grill me...or do if you feel it I don’t care.

Hayes appears to be what Gafford currently is. Gafford is more experience. Hayes is much rawer and has, that always so great, more upside. Hayes is a way better free throw shooter and since he's so raw there be more potential their offensively with NBA development.

That's just my two cents which in the grand scheme of things means absolutely nothing.

Hmmm, I hear you. I also see Gafford is a full 2 years older too. Yeah, I think I get the disparate rankings now.

I don't really like Hayes since he's soooo raw. Gafford would fill a role more quickly but, as you mention, has less "development" left to do (if that makes sense).

Now turning my attention to the other bigs like Fernando, Bassey, etc.

Work ethic is very important. Players who don't work hard generally don't become great. It's a grind, you have to really want to be great to be come a star in the NBA.

Thats my worry especially if Reddish is the pick since so many want him.Usually if you don't flourish in college you won't as a pro.None of us know how hard he works but when you see a player with flashes why isn't he consistent. Whoever is drafted you'd hope as a great work ethic. So many players just seem to coast and not put in what it takes.

Hayes mobility, ability to defend in space, shooting stroke, shot blocking, physical potential and his screen and Capela like game is why his value is so high

Exactly what we need next to Collins. Then you also pair him up with an elite playmaker like Trae and he could very well end up averaging Capela-like numbers. Definitely my guy if he's there with the Dallas pick

I just can't see how we don't pick up Hayes if we want a running mate with Collins in the front court, and another oop target for Trae.

I’m still going 2 wings and grab Kabengele late 1st in a trade. If we are taking a center top 10 I have Hayes above everyone else by far. Above the rim finisher. Between him and Collins Trae would get 6 or 7 dimes on oops alone.

Me am confused:

No, an undrafted player can’t return to college basketball

It's a nice, logical idea: A college basketball player who still has eligibility enters the NBA draft, goes undrafted, and returns to school.

It's just not reality.

Last August, the NCAA announced several new rules regarding the draft, including giving college players the opportunity to sign with NCAA-certified agents without losing eligibility.

But the new piece of policy that's caused some confusion in the college basketball community is this:

Code: Select all

"College basketball players who request an Undergraduate Advisory Committee evaluation, participate in the NBA combine and aren't drafted can return to school as long as they notify their athletics director of their intent by 5 p.m. the Monday after the draft."

The draft is Thursday, June 20. The NCAA has stated that a player, to retain eligibility, must withdraw his name by midnight on May 29.

An NCAA spokesperson confirmed that a player must withdraw his name from the draft on May 29 and therefore could not wait for the result of the actual draft. The post-draft rule change is not yet effective.

Good lookin out Jamal I couldn’t find the time. 3:30 eastern is lovely!

7. Grizzlies 7.5%
8. Mavs 6.0%
9. Pelicans 4.5%

I’m rooting for this order right here. I realize 7th is better for us but the odds still freak me out even tho it’s 7.5% vs 6.0%.

Second choice is :

7. Mavs
8. Grizz
9. Pelicans

I wonder if the cokehead dude from the NBA offices is running the drawing today. I don’t remember his name but last year he was sniffing from beginning to end. Bearded dude, truly hard to watch.

Actually that's not how it works. I think all three will have the basically the same odds of moving up in the lottery (top 4). Coin flip just determines what order they go if they don't move up.

Pre drawing:

Pelicans 26.3% 6.0%
Mavs 26.3% 6.0%
Grizz 26.3% 6.0%

Post drawing :

7th 32.0% 7.5%
8th 26.3% 6.0%
9th 20.3% 4.5%

My original post had my desired outcome. Not sure how much clearer I can be.

Ps The first % signifies chances of landing in the top 4, the second set of %’s signifies chances of the 1st overall pick.
