Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread (Part 2)
Per BR:
Maker is under contract for the 2019-20 season at $3.6 million, per Spotrac. Still only 21 years old, that's a reasonable salary for a team to take a chance on him. As he completes his third NBA season, he is eligible to negotiate a rookie contract extension this offseason.

Dedmon, Prince, Vince Carter for Lamb, Kaminsky and/or Willie Hernangomez (both works salary wise) and a first.
Frank and Willie are 25 and 24 respectively and cheap while Lamb is expiring. The first would just be lottery protected.
Does that look tempting?

I'm open to the thought, me, but let's all bear in-mind that he was one of those "they-didnt-really-do-that-did-they?" picks by MIL... he was overvalued from the start, on the basis of most of what us draftniks were reading that June. I sure wouldn't give much for him now. He's worth a 2nd rounder, imo.

This is a terrible deal for us. Why the hell would we do this?

You’re not even willing to throw in Dorsey?

Among the teams that Maker could end up with include the Atlanta Hawks, Miami Heat or even the New York Knicks. These are teams currently on rebuild mode. At his age, he could grow together with the younger players that these teams are trying to mold.
We always get thrown into the BS. Remember someone putting out the **** about us being interested in Michael Beasley

Actually that is a pretty good deal for Atlanta, I think Jordan Bell is a good player

Bell is also expiring. Schlenk has said Atlanta doesn't want any more 2019 firsts. Not sure 29 moves the needle for Atlanta when they likely have 35, 44, and 45 already.

I'm starting to like the deal of prince for Dunn straight up.

Why though? What about Dunn's game fits what we do?
He's the same age as Prince, due/eligible for extension in same time frame.

Prince plays a premium position and is valuable to us in that while Dunn is a PG. It makes zero sense.

Heeyyy, you didn't let me use that eggscuse on the trade board. No fair.
And, in CP's defense, I get the impression he was just throwing a name out. Not advocating for the guy. I usually use Beasley or Ferguson but same principle.

Dunn would play both guard positions and plays defense on a roster that mostly doesn't. It's a reason why LP starts Bembry, and it's to try and set a defensive tone. He's the perfect replacement for Lin. His trade will only increase under the Hawks.
Why is Prince in trade talks people ask. It's simple, he doesn't fit the longterm plans.
