If we do get ourselves one of these big, Euro Centers as a project, we HAVE to be patient with them.

Zubac, Bitadze, Hartenstein have developed into above average starting Centers. But none of their original teams saw much payoff for drafting or developing them along the way.

They may take a little while before they are ready for primetime. But damn do they look good when it finally happens for them:

Maxime Raynaud (Stanford, C)
Read on Twitter

Previous Mock Position: No. 34
Size: 7'1", 250 lbs
Age: 21
Nationality: France
Pro Comparison: Alex Len

Maxime Raynaud's consistency this year reflects an updated level of offensive polish.

Averaging 21.4 points and 1.8 threes at 7'1", he's taken another step forward with footwork, counters, command and post touch using both hands. He's getting himself high-percentage, controlled looks on a regular basis.

And now that he's making 1.7 threes per game, his fluidity scoring inside and out has made it easier to look past the athletic and defensive questions for a projected second-rounder.

It really is time that they emphasize bigs. Going into next season we have 1 center under contract and he's 6'8"

Take one of the Ivisic twins for example with SRP and DEVELOP them. Get your guy and do a Mo Gueye 4 year contract

Hawks need bigs in a big way

Would you guys trade Okongwu, the Lakers pick and the Kings Pick to move up for Maluach?

Take OO out and then it's a fair trade

Tankathon has Maluach #9. LAL pick #19, SAC pick #14

Maluach would feast as the screener/roll man next to Trae Young.

3 of these 5 players were attainable in 2024.

We still looking for a Young Center in the draft?

Or looking for an oversized vet to backup Okongwu moving forward? (Goga Bitadze!!)

I haven't given him much consideration.

Thoughts on this kid? He should be available when we select in this summer's draft.

High energy guy that to me gives the game everything he has. He just likes to venture out to the three point line from time to time.

Yea this dude caught my eye. My new favorite crush for bigman for the Hawks. 2 dribble drive from nba 3 range for a monster dunk is all I needed.

A flawed prospect, but he's got great size and undeniable offensive talent.
Does not possess Hawks DNA...

Derik Queen, C, Maryland

Height: 6′ 10″
Weight: 245 lbs

It would be easy to write off Queen’s NBA translation as an undersized big man with only average athleticism and no real three-point shot, but that would overlook everything that’s made him special as a freshman for Maryland. The beefy 6’10 big man can create offense with the ball in his hands with an advanced handle for his player his size. He can use his big frame to create space when he gets going downhill, and he’s shown soft touch (72.5 percent at the rim) when he gets in close.

Queen will need to cut down his turnovers and develop into a better passer, but there will be more attention on his shooting projection. He’s been solid from the foul line this year (76 percent), but is only 2-of-22 from three. A unique player who will require a precise fit to hit his highest end outcomes, Queen’s projected range could be one of the wider in this class.

Thomas Sorber, C, Georgetown

Height: 6'10"
Weight: 250 pounds

Sorber has been one of the best freshmen surprises of the season, going from the No. 40 overall recruit in the RSCI to a potential top-20 pick during his debut season with at Georgetown. The 6’10 big man has played with imposing physicality at both ends of the floor. He’s a very good rebounder, a tough screen setter, and can absorb contact in the paint defensively while still challenging the shot. He’s flashed the connective passing traits that NBA teams love out of their big men, and he looks like a solid finisher inside.

Sorber does not have a three-point shot at the moment, he’s a bit undersized for a center, and he’s not a quick twitch athlete, but his powerful and efficient game gets the job done.

Raw talent that will benefit from the G League. Possibly a late first round pick at best?

Looking at these names. Hawks passed on 7 of these 12 guys in the draft over the years.
