We have very knowledgeable nba fans on the hawks board...

Somebody on the Sixers board actually posted this....wow. Just wow.

:nonono:

Yes. Speculation is Hawks/Sixers are the pairing to watch for Fultz given ties with Lloyd Pierce. Prince makes sense. How about Kevin Huerter? I remember he lit the Sixers up earlier this season. Shoots 40% from 3 land.

Fultz + Bolden for Prince + Huerter.

No there isn't. He doesn't do anything well enough to hide that shooting. Bembry 2.0

You keep talking present tense. No one's debating present tense. And again, it's not like he's never shot well.

The best way to predict future success is past performance. No Thankyou :noway:

He is in the NBA and he sucks at it. Has never played well in the NBA. Let him be someone else's problem. This is what losing organizations do...They constantly play power ball instead of saving that dollar. Dedmon is a very good player so why give him away for nothing. Just resign the dude like every other winning organization does and let Philly deal with their own draft mistakes.

I'd be all for keeping Dedmon if this was two years from now.

As-is, he's going to make too much money, his ceiling is too low, and those minutes can better go to someone else we're looking to develop.

Apparently they were very wrong about him just like they were with Collins and Huerter. I don't know what to tell you my friend if you think that the draft process and evaluation of player and how they translate to the next level is easy.

He's not even 21 years old.

Sorry. You're just not persuasive that he's a lost cause. It might be different if he'd never shot well. He has. Very well, actually. And that's not a matter of scouting opinion. It happened. The numbers are the numbers.

Dedmon makes too much money? Low Ceiling? The guy is a 7 footer that can shoot threes and rebound while playing good defense. He also plays well with our star players and knows the offense. How much is that worth?

I don't know about that. His one year at Washington is a fairly small sample size, it's basically 1/3 of an NBA season, and he wasn't very good from the line. I think it's more likely than not that he will never be a good shooter.

As always, posters overrate young players, and underrate solid vets.

Make all the pontifications you want, but a theory isn't a proof of itself... to the contrary, lack of support offered routinely correlates with a lack of support.

And if we can get Dedmon back for $7m/yr, you might have a point.

I don't think anyone paying attention envisions that happening.

Dedmon will be 31 next time we're fielding a team expected to do anything significant.

Love the guy. But. Pass.

I'm not a fan of Fultz, but maybe this is a Billups situation?

I like Dedmon as a player and person, but Cousins is a major upgrade this off-season. If Dedmon is the Hawks center next year I wouldn't complain, but I'd like to see us upgrade the starting position.

Actually, scratch that. If we draft someone like Bol Bol or Jaxson Hayes, Dedmon makes too much sense not to retain.

They need a PG and have playoff ambitions, we will assuredly be outbid.

Fultz is a high ceiling project at best, in near term he is not going to help anybody get to playoffs

The fit with ATL actually makes a lot more sense, i bet Sixers want Prince/Dedmon - they need wing depth and outside shooting desperately

They got Harris instead of Prince. Conventional wisdom says they're done on that front.

I don't presume we're keeping both 2019 1st round picks. I don't even presume we use either one of them. I take Schlenk at his word when he says we're at that point that he needs to add a cornerstone player. That guy doesn't appear to be available in this draft to us, unless there's a way to trade up to get there.

Dedmon's the right guy at the wrong time.

You're not likely to be able to get him on a contract in terms of both money and years that makes sense. He'll be 31 by the time we're even sniffing the playoffs again. That makes the investment in him for next season a waste, both in terms of money and in terms of minutes his contract would suggest he ought to be getting.
