DH's ball handling and drives are way too slow, its why he gets blocked so much. Im not sure how he'll be able to fix that to be honest. Looking good in the clip though.

Re: What direction do the Hawks go now? (Offseason Meditations)
Bleacher ReportTrae Young, Dejounte Murray, John Collins Dazzle at Jamal Crawford's CrawsOver Pro-Am
It's not often a July pro-am game is appointment viewing for Atlanta Hawks fans, but Sunday was an exception.
That's because Trae Young, Dejounte Murray and John Collins all suited up for The Dream Team in a contest against the Sonics at the CrawsOver, which is a league that was created by former NBA player Jamal Crawford.
All three Hawks put up notable numbers as well with Murray finishing with 39 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Young (37 points and 13 dimes) and Collins (27 points and 17 rebounds) each had a double-double.
Stats are one thing, but the fans were there for the big plays Sunday. After all, the defense being played at the CrawsOver is probably a step below NBA playoff level from an intensity standpoint, giving the Hawks playmakers the opportunity to generate a few highlights. That the two-time All-Star was the one facilitating to Murray and Collins a number of times was surely a welcome sign for Atlanta fans. After all, Young will primarily be the one with the ball in his hands when the season begins, and his ability to consistently find his teammates will alter their ceiling as they look to compete in the Eastern Conference.Spoiler:
Atlanta's ceiling looked plenty high Sunday with the Big Three flying around at the CrawsOver.

It's nice the trio are building camaraderie, but we need them to build chemistry. I don't not trust this coaching staff to get the best out of the guys.

I'm also skeptical that Nate or his current staff will properly utilize this collection of players. What I can't stop thinking about:
If a mediocre coach with an outdated offensive system -- that broke down consistently at key points in games -- could still manage to oversee the #2 offense in the NBA, just imagine what a talented, offensive mastermind could accomplish.
I'm predicting Kenny Atkinson will be here running the team by next summer.

This backcourt is taylor made for KA. There is no other coach that makes more sense right now. Nate has morphed into Woodson not only in appearance but philosophy. He's such a mid coach with below avg asst coaches.

Collins showcased himself the other day and I expect him to be moved before the start of the season.Jamaaliver wrote:

For who and/or for what that would make us a better team for this upcoming season?

That's a rare occurrence.

Only moves left is for me is for them to move up the standings and win some series.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Re: What direction do the Hawks go now? (Offseason Meditations)
Seems the GB and national evaluators see the Hawks as about #8 seed in the East. Anyone else surprised by this? I think that the Hawks are much closer to the ECF level team than the perfect storm crap we saw last season.
I'm calling 3 or 4 seed. Murray and Trae are going to be unguardable and it's going to make life easier for the other guys on the court

Unless they are doing some injuries projection based on the last two seasons, it's totally stupid to think that this roster, if healthy, can't get into the top4, at least top6.
It's like they continue to think only based on the 1-4 MIA series, and without seeing that this team was destroyed by injuries in this series.

The truth is likely somewhere in the middle of your projections and theirs.
Hawks are undeniably a more talented team than last season, but have a worse bench, less shooting and the same mediocre coaching staff.
We're clearly a playoff team, likely good enough to avoid the play-in games -- but not quite championship contenders.
- We'll be depending on health and progress of D Hunter and Jalen Johnson.
- We'll need Bogdan to recover quickly from his knee procedure.
- We have no backup PF worth playing.
With Bogdan frequently injured and Huerter now in SAC, I foresee the defense being stronger but the offense taking a dip without proper floor spacing.

The coaching staff is indeed the main thing that may limit this team if they are all healthy.
If they are not, it may also be due to the training/medical staff that also be on the level of the coaching staff

Yes we need Bogi as much as possible, but I don't want see the same thing than last season with player coming back too early.
I would prefer to give more time than less time, and it's never a bad thing to play less guys fully healthy and taking more responsibilities than they should with a full roster, and then adding the one coming back from injury in the rotation
I don't want any player recovering from a injury to be pushed to return too quickly
