Edey played better all season and destroyed Clingan in the Natty.

Any chance we get a bidding war going for #1?

This is the most in-depth of the rumors I've heard thus far.

If we can get #4 and #8 just for #1...we have to do it. I suspect a draft night trade would include DeJounte and give Hawks back control of their own picks, too.

My guess -

Spurs receive: #1 overall pick, Dejounte Murray

Hawks Receive: #4 pick, #8 pick, Keldon Johnson, Hawks 2027 Draft Pick, Removal of pick swap in 2026

This...might be a deal breaker for the coaching staff if they view either of Okongwu or Jalen as better/equal prospects at PF.

Substitute De'Andre Hunter with Dejounte Murray and we can possible talk. We get to pay Hunter $23m and $24m per season real soon.

That's how I feel too.
Clingan doesn't interest me but Edey does in the late first if he's around.

This isn't wrong.

But "in the rotation" and "on the roster" are two very different statements.

NOTE: If we trade down for picks #4 & #8...I believe the team will dangle #8 + the Sacramento pick in trade for one of Mikal Bridges or Lauri Markkanen.

(Either would be a huge win for us.)

When Memphis were discussion the #2 pick, it came up that Javon Carter outplayed JA before he reached the NBA.

I would want Atlanta’s 2025 pick back from SA too. Maybe more so than the 8th overall pick.

That is definitely reasonable.

A) I think the Spurs would be fools to give that back with Cooper Flag and Ace Bailey atop next year's draft.

B) If we improve as much as we hope, would the 24th pick next year be better than the #8 pick this year?

No, the 24th pick won't be better next year.

Both Mikal Bridges and Lauri Markkanen fill no needs unless we have no intentions on contending. Both will sign for $40m per season or more when they're eligible. I believe Lauri is a free agent after next season. They're not even remotely star talents.

OO
Jalen Johnson

I assume that is what he expects the frontcourt to look like.

OO, Jalen Johnson, and Zaccharie Risacher doesn't work due to OO being at the 5. It won't be successful.

Understood.

I will say, in this new era of parity, I believe depth and offensive balance can outweigh sheer star power.

The Old Way
  • Phoenix
  • LA Lakers
  • LA Clippers
  • Golden State
Each stacked with All Stars and future Hall of Famers.
All eliminated within the first week of the playoffs.

The Modern Approach
  • Celtics
  • Mavericks
Each added fringe/supporting pieces and made deep runs in the playoffs behind flawed stars and inexperienced coaches.

Does anyone truly consider Risacher the safest route?

2024 NBA Mock Draft 2.0

Hawks play it safe

1) Atlanta Hawks - Zaccharie Risacher
Spoiler:
Read on Twitter
No one expected the Atlanta Hawks to end up with the first pick in this year's draft, and no one knows what they'll do with it. There are two likely options in play for the first pick, but I expect them to take French forward Zaccharie Risacher. Risacher might not be a superstar in the NBA but his shooting ability at 6'8 is intriguing, and he isn't just a shooter.

He has shown that he is more than capable of burning defenders who are a step late closing out on him by attacking and finishing. His being a high-volume 3-point shooter who can finish effectively in the paint on one end and be a solid defender on the other makes him a seemingly easy fit on any team.

It's unclear who he'd play with in Atlanta, with Trae Young or Dejounte Murray possibly being moved along with starting center Clint Capela, though the Hawks might just hold off on a big trade to see how they might look with Risacher on their team. He probably won't have a massive impact early on but he could be a helpful building block if they trade some of their veterans to retool.
