Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
I doubt it happens, but if he were to fall to the #14 selection, he's too good of a prospect to pass up.
Could be the Hawks version of Ginobili...

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
Carter Bryant out of Arizona is really intriguing. Low ceiling, high floor.
He's listed as a wing, but at 6'8" 220, he's closer to Jalen in size than Dyson or Zacch.
Shooting 37% from 3-pt range as a freshman, he could be a really nice project capable of backing up the 2, 3 or 4 spots.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
Young, inexperienced combo guard with top flight upside.
Ayo Dosunmo?
DeAnthony Melton?

Alright Hawks Fans, you'll likely get your pick of two players from this list.
Any thoughts, preferences, predictions?

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
So I think Mo being able to defend the rim well and almost contesting deep jumpers as well are the prototypes they would probably look into with this draft.
Closest to that archetype is Essongue and Newell. You pack pounds into Essongue's frame and that's Giannis like stuff right there.

I assume he's expected to be a hall of famer talent because I never heard much about him. I had to look him up on my own, follow his games, and the box scores.Jamaaliver wrote:Spoiler:
He must be a sure thing.

Dylan is who I like. I hope he ends up in a system that works for him.

I like his pace and he's quick in all directions.Jamaaliver wrote:Young, inexperienced combo guard with top flight upside.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
Spoiler:
Basketball Insiders
NBA Comparison: Kemba Walker, Collin Sexton
Offensive role: Advantage Creator/Pick and Roll Playmaker
Defensive role: Guard defender
Fears’s star path could resemble Kemba Walker’s, following in the footsteps of another shorter guard with a dizzying handle. He must improve his jumper to reach those heights, but Fears has the explosiveness, shift and passing vision to live on the ball. If he can’t become an All-Star quality talent, he could become a useful player like Sexton who made significant strides as a shooter and decision maker throughout his NBA career.
StrengthsWeaknesses
- Elite horizontal athlete with the first step, long strides and change of direction to create advantages and pressure the rim at will
- Physical driver who embraces context despite lack of height and vertical pop
- Strong pick and roll playmaker who manipulates screens with great pace and change of speed
- Led all high major freshmen in usage rate yet still managed solid efficiency
- Potential for shooting growth due to his 3-point volume, free-throw shooting and touch
- Has the speed and instincts to generate turnovers on defense
- Poor finisher at the basket due to size and strength limitations
- Can rush his process and decision making on the ball, forcing shots and passes
- Motor on defense is inconsistent, doesn’t always chase through screens and rotate off of the ball
- Struggles to contain bigger, stronger players on the ball
- Hasn’t shot efficiently from beyond the arc thus far despite positive future indicators, defenses will duck under ball screens

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
Pettiford>Philon btw even though I like Philon. Hawks can't afford to select either one with other needs, Bufkin already on the roster, and trying to fit a young pg to develop with all these other things considered.

Re: 2025 NBA Draft Thread
With the 13th or 14th pick, it's Essongue, CMB, Bryant, Newell, or bust for me. Hawks get exposed many times with lack of physical talent and these prospects addresses a bit of it.

The Sports God's are going to make both our pick and the Kings pick jump aren't they?
