“Everybody says you’re gonna have 3 superstars on 3 or 4 teams. Well I’m not sure Denver’s gonna be one of those teams. So why should we build on that philosophy?. My philosophy is why don’t we go get a top 10 player in every position and have a top 10 bench?. Our challenge is to beat Goliath.”

Magic dropped Hughes and got Ish Smith. For athleticism I suppose. Underrated move? Maybe Gundy is just rolling out the balls now.

Could we see Nelson off the bench?

Man i just wish the Knicks would miss the playoffs, I've hated all the hype they've gotten since Melo came, at the beginning of the year all the anylists were picking them to possibly get to the conference finals. Then their fans are the worst, they think the Knicks should win just because they play in New York, I hate the Knicks almost as much as Miami.

“Offensively nothing much changes there.” Larry Drew on playing without "centers" Al Horford and Jason Collins.
---
Horford used to push the ball and catch backdoor lobs. It was like having two Josh Smith's. Drew is an idiot.
---
Im still waiting for Troy Murphy because Marvin and Josh are not getting it done shooting wise.

NewsFlash: Lebron James is tired of being blamed for everything.

This is understandable if in his mind he interprets Larry Bird saying that if his goal was to win he'd chose to play with Kobe Bryant, but it'd be more fun to play with Lebron as blaming him for something. Not being picked as or for something is not being blamed you narcissistic moron. It used to annoy me that Lebron was so much like a politician that he'd tweet something and then retract it if anyone reacted negatively. Paranoid Lebron is worse. He's not a target for everything. He was in the question because he's a great basketball player. If he wants to be the answer to every question then he has to work at it, but he probably wouldn't like himself if he did. Some of the greatest competitors are insufferable scum as people.

Followup: They are discussing this on ESPN now with Jalen Rose. I want to apologize for calling Lebron a moron for being uninformed. I should have reserved the vitriol for Rose as he is being paid for his opinion and theoretically his knowledge, but he just went on a rant about people blaming Lebron.

Dear Jalen,
If someone is asked if they'd rather play with Kobe or Lebron, picking Kobe doesn't mean that Lebron is being blamed for anything. I understand you schtick is that you keep it real. Is it possible to keep it real and also be well-informed? You might try that as an example to the kids. You can act street, no one can say boo if you have your facts straight. However if you act street and are poorly informed you come across as a joke to most and the clock is ticking on everyone else figuring it out.
Sincerely,
Evil Dallas

I had to get that off my chest.

Few interesting quotes
• Oscar Robertson on the Heat’s title chances: “I want LeBron to win. It felt like the whole country was against him last year. But I’ve always said this: To win championships, you need to have a center who can get you 12 points, 10 rebounds. The Heat don’t have that.”

• On the quality of play in today’s NBA: “I think the athletes have gotten better, but that doesn’t make you a better basketball player. The only play most teams run is the high pick with the center. Is that really basketball? There are no reverses, no backdoors, double-screens, weakside cuts from the strong side. They don’t have any of that anymore.”

The Clippers intend on pursing JR Smith. That would only make them more dangerous on offense and defense (steals) with CB out.

Rose To See Back Specialist
Derrick Rose did not play on Sunday afternoon against the Celtics as he continues to be limited by back issues.

Rose has been limited by back spasms for weeks and also sat out Friday’s win over the Bobcats.

“I told coach it didn’t get any better and he told me to sit out,” Rose said before Chicago took on Boston. “I’ve got to be able to move, get up without hurting and be myself. Whenever I feel there is no pain there anymore I’ll be ready to go.”

Tom Thibodeau said Rose will see a specialist on Monday. Chicago will host Sacramento, Boston and New Jersey this week without any back-to-back contests.

Some bad news. I won't be surprised if David Stern allows a trade that sends Kaman to Miami.

Free agent J.R. Smith confirmed that he's nearing a deal with the Knicks, according to Hoopsworld's Alex Kennedy.

They basically made the Denver Nuggets + Amare instead of Kenyon. And Lin is the new 6'4 pg. Amare's the guy that I always felt would put the Nuggets over the top in the West and now they got JR, who I thought was going to LAC.

wow... we're fucced. Unless we make a move as well...

It seemed like LAC was his first choice but NY had more money to offer. The cost of living in NY is more compared to LA (some can debate that), but it's a write-off, so I doubt JR Smith really cares.

The Knicks are starting to look like a much better team and are now loaded with depth.

Sources close to the situation told ESPN.com this week that Nuggets center Chris Andersen is also available, with Denver having just signed Kosta Koufos to an unexpected three-year contract extension worth $9 million to lock him into a frontcourt rotation headlined by Nene and Timofey Mozgov.

Injuries to Nene and Mozgov have enabled Andersen to get more court time recently, but sources say that the Nuggets are open to moving Andersen prior to the deadline, as much as they'd love to have an extra big man in the playoffs.

Trading for Andersen, though, means taking on a 33-year-old with two more years left on his contract after this season at close to $9.5 million ... and with the glory of his contributions to Denver's 2009 playoff run nearly three years in the past. http://espn.go.com/nba/dailydime/_/page ... alf-awards

Stephen Jackson wants out

Post#338 » by HMFFL » Sat Feb 18, 2012 7:25 pm

I prefer not to even trade for him, but we might be able to unload some of our baggage, and only have to deal with Jax for one full season. He makes roughly $9m this season and $10 next season.

Does Jax interest you for one season if we can unload some of our bad contracts? (Marvin Williams)

If the Bucks are interested in Joe Johnson maybe a deal can be reached that involves Joe. The Bucks may want to unload Jax and injury prone Bogut.

I would prefer not to deal with him at all. I could put up with Marvin's contract just so we wouldn't have a locker room cancer in sjax.

I had that very thought a couple of weeks ago, but decided folks would just say I was obsessing on Bogut.

I could be very happy with a front line of Bogut/Horford/Smith. Verrrry happy. Willie Green/Marvelous would do just fine at SG in Joe's place: offense/defense with good 3pt shooting from both.
My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.
