The team you need to worry about sliding past 5 is Memphis.

At their current 8th spot they have over a 20% chance the lottery balls to put them in the top 5. That's not good. The closer they get to 5 is the higher chance the lottery ball can help them get there. AGAIN... That's not good and they know this!

Obviously the percentages go up but so do the odds of us ending up with a higher draft choice. In the end, it’s the bounce of the lottery balls.

Cracking the top 4 %’s

5th place (us currently) 42.1%
6th Memphis 37.2%
7th Washington 30%
8th Dallas 26.3%
9th New Orleans 20.3%

I’d be comfortable if this ended today..but even if they go to 7th that’s only an additional 3.7% chance. Again, we need a good bounce no matter what.

With 20 or so games left, it's clear the mavs finish best case 8th & worse case 10th. Heat could tank and I wouldn't blame em. Pels are weird, I just need them to take one from the mavs.

Being a new Orlean based team, I expect no favors.

It's all about that lotto luck with that Mavs pick. I think they finish with the 7th worst record and then we all hold our breath on lotto night.

No freakin' doubt... I'm holding my breath right NOW  I seriously have no idea how I'm going to watch the lottery. No lie... I don't know if I can. The way Hawks luck is...Dallas will end up with a Top 3 pick.

If I do watch it, I'll need to make sure there are no potential projectiles anywhere in my living room.

The last time I watched was when we got the Al pick. I was so nervous the pick would go to Phoenix from the Joe Johnson trade.

Duuuuuude... They went to commercial and I just KNEW we had Durant. I was screaming and when they came back, I was all..."Not the Hawks, not the Hawks, not the Hawks, not the Hawks...please just don't say The Atlanta Hawks!" Like everyone though, super relieved. Side note, I hated Belkin, but I also disliked caving in to Phoenix on that deal. They weren't going to match.

I am literally terrified by this draft lottery. TERRIFIED. I hate sports. Why do I do this to myself...

 me too. I think I shared this on squawk but during the 2007 draft I was drinking whiskey..when they went to break after we have secured a top 3 pick I drank 200ml whiskey during the commercial break..they come back and we get the 3rd pick..I was happy but sad as hell as I wanted a top 2 pick thinking the draft had 2 franchise players in Oden and Durant.

Now, I don’t drink. I’m gonna be nervous as hell in that 30-45 min of torture. If Dallas retains their pick I might lose it.

I will never forget that draft lottery. Imagine if we did get number one and got Oden!
