ATLANTA – North Carolina had some sweet accommodations Friday for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
The Tar Heels were assigned to the Atlanta Hawks’ locker room at Philips Arena, a plush set-up from the colorful carpet to the tall wooden lockers to the massive poster-sized photos and inspirational quotes adorning the walls.
It created a fun situation for the players.
Senior walk-on David Dupont, for example, snagged the corner locker stall of Hawks’ star Joe Johnson.
Freshman guard Stilman White tried to secure the locker stall of Marvin Williams, the former North Carolina standout. But senior Justin Watts pulled rank and claimed that space for himself.
Harrison Barnes was pleased to landed Tracy McGrady’s locker stall.
And Kendall Marshall settled on Kirk Hinrich’s locker stall.
“He’s a point guard. He played for Coach (Roy Williams) as well,” Marshall said of Hinrich, the former Kansas guard.

D'antoni resigns and Woodson takes over in interim. Carmelo Anthony should excel under Woodson as he's the most iso friendly coach I've ever seen. What I wonder is whether Toney Douglas will regain some measure of success under Woodson as well?
Going to donkey punch a leprechaun!

Re: Around The NBA
Yahoo! is reporting that the Pacers are set to acquire G Leandro Barbosa from the Raptors, and the Star's Mike Wells adds that it's for a second-round pick.
The Pacers already have a logjam brewing at point guard between Darren Collison and George Hill, while Paul George should be locked into all the minutes he can handle at shooting guard, as the future of the franchise. Barbosa's value takes a hit in Indy, while guys like DeMar DeRozan and Linas Kleiza should see more touches in Toronto. Perhaps the biggest impact here is that it likely means the Pacers will no longer be making a run at Chris Kaman.

Good trade for Indiana.

I keep reading nene for McGee. That...can't be right.
Seeing as Nene is a damn good player and McGee is downright horrible. I can't wrap my mind around that one.

I was listening to Van Pelt's show, him and his co-host were doing some "skit" discussing it, but didn't see it mentoned anywhere else at the time. They weren't pulling my leg.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Buyers remorse on Nene. Ass load of money to pay to a 29 year old guy on bad wheels for 13 and 7 especially when they got a guy giving closer to 12 and 9 with over 2 blocks for a tenth of the price. Also add in emergence of Faried, Harrington is a beast scoring at the 4 and they have other bigs in Mozgov, Koufas and Andersen and oh, need to put out a competitive offer for Wilson Chandler by tomorrow.
Makes a lot of sense really.

Re: Around The NBA
Nene is very overrated. Denver apparently started to shop him after he signed his contract extension (no loyalty in this business).
The Kings offered Cousins for Nene.
The Clippers only gave up a second and Brain Cook for Nick Young. That's a no brainer!

Sam Amick: And Denver's "buyer's remorse" on Nene, as @Ken Berger called it, very real: Source says Kings rebuffed Nugs' attempt at Nene- Cousins swap Twitter

Re: Around The NBA
Okay, before people start throwing stats and such, have you WATCHED Mcgee play? He is HORRIBLE.
Denver is a deep team with NINE players averaging over 8 points a game(7 in double figures) and guys that get after the board at literally every position on the court. 13-7 on a good team is more impressive than McGees trumped up numbers on a horrible team. He will literally make that team worse. If you want to trade Nene, fine, you can do MUCH better than a horrible player.
Thats a really REALLY bad trade for Denver. Not so much because Nene is great, but because Mcgee is really REALLY bad.

Re: Around The NBA
So if you are a deep team......why pay 13 million, 67 over the next 5 to one guy? He's missed 15 games too and yet they are still good... McGee is a rental, if he performs well then they can negotiate keeping him if not oh well but makes no sense to say "they are deep team" and then think it's worthwhile investing that amount of money in just another cog in it.

+1000
At center idk. But in a big lineup you get McGee to focus and surround him with Talent and he will just fill gaps.
I wonder if McGee will take Nene's role and play PF next to Mosgov some teams. He gets a FT line jumper and we're looking at crazy potential.
Nuggets could never win out in the West with Nene. Primarily due to Defense and Rebounding.

Larry Ellison in advanced talks to purchase the Memphis Grizzlies. http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/warriors ... eedID=5882
It must be nice to be a Memphis fan. The only problem is that some have said over the years that Larry Ellison was a team in San Jose, CA.

I believe Memphis has the shortest lease with their city out of all the teams for sale seeing as the Kings and Hornets just reupped. Sigh, why can't we have legitimate billionaires interested in the Hawks?

Warriors owner, Joe Lacob, booed at Chris Mullin ceremony
Both Rick Barry and Chris Mullin come in for the save. Has an owner ever been booed this bad?

Unfortunately, Warriors fans aren't too hot on owner Joe Lacob right now. In fact, the Oracle Arena crowd booed Lacob mercilessly when he took the microphone to say a few words during the halftime presentation. What did Lacob do to draw their ire? Well, he recently traded star guard Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks for injured center Andrew Bogut. And, prior to the season, coach Mark Jackson guaranteed a playoff berth, but the Warriors once again are destined for the lottery.
"Tonight is about two things, embracing history and respect," Lacob began, stumbling and looking down at his note card as he was met with immediate boos. "The Warriors ownership, the current owners, our owners, think it's very important to embrace history.
The booing was so loud and long that Lacob was visibly shaking and struggling to make it through his prepared remarks.
"When you speak of Warriors history there is no one," he continued, before trailing off as the boos simply did not cease.
At that point, Mullin and fellow Warriors legend Rick Barry had to step in and save him as he exited stage left.
