If we pull this trade off, and trade Joe/Al for Howard, then get them both to resign long term in Atlanta then Sund belongs in the Atlanta Hawks GM hall of fame, that being said NJ declines.

Teague
Marshon
Marvin
Josh
Lopez

That actually is a real good lineup for NJ

Orlando trades: Howard and Turkoglu
Atlanta trades: Smith, Horford, Zaza

Teague/JJ/Marvin/X/Howard

Then I raise you a scenario...Howard commits to ATL on hearing the trade and/or picks up the option for next year...Nets panic...

Atlanta trades: Teague and JJ
Nets trades: Deron and Morrow

Hawks lineup: Deron/Morrow/Marvin/Turk/Howard

Fantasy...yes...but I can't stop thinking about it...

I'd also love to roll the dice on a Smith/Teague for Gortat/Nash trade. I think they would have to take Marvin too to make it work.

i think smith and hinrich for gortat and nash is fair . not sure about trading teague because if nash didnt resign with the hawks they wouldnt have a point guard .

I wouldn't. You would have Nash for this year only before he goes ring chasing. I would hope that if you brought in Nash it would be to pair him with Smith so they can run. Trading Smith and Teague for what could be just Gortat isn't a smart move.

Rumor has it that NO is willing to trade a lottery pick for taking Okafor.

Marvin and Kirk for Okafor and one of those lotto picks.

I think we would have to try and give them fully expiring contracts, not dump Marvin's on them as well.

Why do you think that considering we would be saving them over $13 million dollars. The lotto pick would cost them that or a little more over the 3 or 4 years of it's life. It matches up financially. We save them $13 million dollars by taking Okafor, then they save that amount or more by not having to pay the lotto pick. In the end we save them over $25 million dollars. If a team takes Okafor by sending nothing but expirings they wil be saving them close to $40 million dollars. I don't think anyone is going to do that. Clippers gave away a lotto pick just to get a team to take Baron Davis contract which only had 1 year on it. Okafor has 2 years on his.

I don't know exactly what mode your team is in, but it seems as though your on the verge of blowing it up? Would you do a trade with Orlando to dump Joe Johnson's contract? We dont have IMMEDIATE expirings but we do have contracts for "good" not great, players that could help the situation.

Note: If you wanted to drop even more salary, You could add Zaza in the deal if you took back a cheap youngster like Daniel Orton (11-12)1.10m or Earl Clark (11-12)1.16,(12-13) has player option for 1.24. Both additions work under the cap. You could also Add one of those two guys without Zaza being added, but you would obviously have to waive somebody on your current roster (Stackhouse?) or add him in and ORL cuts him.

ATL:
SF Hedo Turkoglu (11-12)11.0m,(12-13)11.8m, (13-14 is *partial-garanteed for 6.0m)
PF Glen Davis (11-12)6.3m,(12-13)6.4m,(13-14)6.4m,(14-15)6.6m
SG JJ Redick (11-12)6.75m,(12-13 is NON-garanteed for 6.19m)

ORL:
SG/SF Joe Johnson (11-12)18.04m,(12-13)19.75m,(13-14)21.47m,(14-15)23.18m,(15-16)24.89m
SF/PF Marvin Williams (11-12)7.5m,(12-13)8.29m,(13-14 PLAYER option for 7.5m)

So, what exactly leads you to believe we are close to blowing it up? Next, that is not enough of a salary cap relief for us to make that deal. Those players you are mentioning aren't any good while Joe could put you over the top. We would need some high draft picks to make that make any sense.

Big Baby's deal is terrible, Hedo is worse than Marvin, and if we did this trade Dwight Howard would have incentive to resign with Orlando long term. No from this Hawks fan I'd rather amnesty Joe in 2-3 years than take back 2 scrubs on bad contracts

Jj is still an all-star, i'd only trade him now for expirings/pick (not even then prolly) or an upgrade, imo very few upgrades from all-star. Hawks would lose a ton of money from missing playoffs too.

Also the Orlando trade is beyond ridiculous, only thing worse than an overpaid all-star...overpaid garbage (turk, davis)

Hawks need to get involved in Andrew Bogut's trade availability.

Its a chance to pick up an elite center that we have needed for so long.

First offer would to offer Marvin + Zaza + Hinrich for Bogut + Jackson

If that is not going to work, then I would probably offer Josh Smith in a one for one swap.

I don't think we get the Bucks to take on Zaza's and Marvin's contracts while we get back Bogut. We would need to give at least a first as well and even then I doubt they do it.

I wouldn't give up Smith for Bogut. Bogut is way too injury prone to give up Smith for him.
