Legit question: who is the ugliest and/or weirdest looking prospect in the draft?

I want Cam and Sekou. Is WAS going to pick a big or might they pluck one of my two?

With Cam and Sekou drafted, next move is to move up with seconds and get our Center. A couple of seconds and maybe CLEV pick should get back into the mid teens for Goga or Bruno

Wizards could and should go BPA. Lotta needs and question marks everywhere on that squad. I could see them going Sekou, Clarke, or even Hayes.

Sounds like the Cavs are zeroing in on Culver. Garland signed with Klutch and has been seen hangin out with Bron apparently. Looks more and more like we may choose between Hunter and Reddish

Here is the 20 page reddish thread in the draft forum if anyone wants to read non-hawks opinions of him to get an outsider perspective. I personally think he has bust written all over him but some think he has potential.

But neither one of those players has shown any consistency whatsoever on the actual court where the game is played. They do well in prepared settings being defended against air. I wouldn’t touch either one of these players with a 10 foot pole.

But I was a McDonald’s All-American I have the Duke mystique behind me so yeah I will go top 10”?

I am super biased against him, but would probably pick him. crazy that these days duke is making big men look like their best prospects. I honestly don't know enough about all the other prospects, only know acc and then a lot about duke and unc. imo the risk is you pick up these good but not superstar players and you have to overpay them in their second contract.

great players can do well as a freshman, but you have some really good players who are totally different as a soph.

(cam went to haverford school as a frosh? not a typical kid. i don't feel like researching more.)

I'm actually feeling better about Sekou. He has an excuse, few years playing the game. His progress has been very good. He blew up for a monster game just in time to get his club qualified for POs.

He has the body and athleticism. he can shoot and he's too strong and big for wings and too fast for bigs. He's very mature and driven from what I've seen in interviews and life story.

It will take him a couple of seasons, but he has a huge potential.

Cam scares me more. Drive is essential in any sport and Cam hasn't shown that. I'd rather trade with BOS and grab Sekou . Okpala, Bitadze

From Hoopshabit:

Atlanta Hawks: 5 options for pick No. 8 in 2019 NBA Draft

Sekou Doumbouya

Spoiler:
If the Hawks want a big man who has pure, untapped potential, then Sekou Doumbouya from France would fit that mold perfectly. Scouts are already amazed by Doumbouya’s athleticism, which should translate well to the Hawks’ transition game. The big draw of Doumbouya will be his size and strength to become a defensive stopper. Standing at 6’9″ and weighing 230 pounds, he will be hard to push around. At his age, he still has a lot to learn. But he may have some of the best potential of many prospects outside of Williamson.

Cam Reddish

Spoiler:
The likely third player to be picked from Duke may or may not be there for the Hawks to ponder at No. 8. He’s all over the place in mock drafts...Reddish was a heralded high school prospect, but quickly became the third fiddle at Duke with Zion Williamson and R.J. Barrett being the main focal points in that offense. Yahoo! Sports even references familiarity from multiple training camps Cam and Trae Young attended together for USA basketball while in high school.

Jarrett Culver

Spoiler:
Nearly all mocks have Culver going as a top-five prospect...So why would the Hawks be excited for Culver to fall to them? His frame of 6’6″ and 195 pounds should allow him to play as the 2 or the 3 for the Hawks. Jarrett Culver did it all for Texas Tech last season. Per NBADraft.net, his 18.5 points per game accounted for 25.3 percent of the team’s offensive output. The Hawks are in need of defensive help and the two-way abilities of Culver would be great to have alongside Trae Young.

Jaxson Hayes

Spoiler:
If they Hawks are wanting to use pick No. 8 on a big, but want a [more traditional] prospect, they could turn to Jaxson Hayes. Hayes [is arguably] the second-best big of the 2019 NBA Draft class. He’s super athletic and has a 7’4″ wingspan to go along with his 6’11”, 220-pound frame. He’s already projected to be one of the best rim protectors of the draft class as well. The Hawks need a strong defensive presence to go along with their high-flying offense. This pick would take pressure off John Collins to be the main defender.

Look like coby white is going to the suns with 6 pick you guys could be picking culver, reddish, hayes, sekou, clarke, or hunter.
https://nba.nbcsports.com/2019/05/27/rumor-coby-white-has-top-six-promise-in-draft/
Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland was rumored to get promised he’ll get drafted by a certain team.

He might not be the only point guard with a high-lottery promise.

North Carolina’s Coby White has also generated plenty of speculation.

K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune:

After meeting the media and interviewing with select teams, White left the combine with widespread speculation that he, too, has received a draft promise. Two league executives who spoke with the Tribune believe White’s promise is from a team that picks before the Bulls.

The Bulls have the No. 7 pick, so reviewing the six teams picking higher:

1. Pelicans

Zion Williamson is the obvious pick.

2. Grizzlies

They’re reportedly set on Ja Morant.

3. Knicks

This seems too high, with R.J. Barrett the consensus No. 3 prospect. I’d be open to picking White ahead of Barrett, but I definitely wouldn’t promise to do so this early in the process.

4. Lakers

The draft opens way up at this point. Count White among the viable prospects. But with Lonzo Ball already in Los Angeles, would the Lakers really lock into White this early?

5. Cavaliers

The Cavs already have Collin Sexton, who shouldn’t preclude them from drafting another point guard. But he probably does. He should at least make Cleveland less likely to promise White.

6. Suns

The Suns reportedly didn’t promise Garland. That makes them a prime suspect for the White promise. Phoenix badly needs a point guard.

One more theory: The Bulls promised White, and – especially with this report coming from Chicago – this is a smokescreen. They definitely could use another point guard.

Read on Twitter

http://amicohoops.net/cavaliers-have-draft-eyes-for-texas-tech-standout-culver/
If the Cavaliers had landed the No. 2 overall draft pick, they may have settled on Texas Tech shooting guard Jarrett Culver — even over the likes of Ja Morant and R.J. Barrett.

That is how much the Cavs are said to like Culver. It’s hard to know if any of this is true or just a gigantic smokescreen (Culver is about the third draft prospect the Cavs are said to really, really want.)

But for the sake of argument, let’s say Culver is indeed the Cavaliers’ man. Let’s say the New Orleans Pelicans take Zion Williamson at No. 1, the Memphis Grizzlies go with Moran at No. 2, and the Knicks take Barrett after that.

In that scenario, all that stands between the Cavs and Culver is … drumroll, please … LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers.

“At No. 5, though, there’s a pretty good chance the Cavs can get their man, if the Lakers pass on him at No. 4 — though that is no guarantee,” Sean Deveney of Sporting News wrote. “Culver had good numbers at the Chicago pre-draft combine, measuring 6-6.75 with a 6-9.5 wingspan.”

The Cavs interviewed Culver last week, and according to sources, walked away feeling as if he would be a great fit in the culture they are trying to build and in new coach John Beilein’s system.

But again, what happens after the top three picks is when the draft mysteries are really expected to begin. Along with Culver, Virginia small forward De’Andre Hunter, Duke wing Cam Reddish, Vanderbilt point guard Darius Garland and rising North Carolina combo guard Coby White are all expected to fall in the Nos. 5-10 range.

Everything is falling into place with these supposed promises to White and Garland. Give me either Reddish or Hunter at 8 and I'd be thrilled.
