Sixers countered with Gallo, Reddish, Hunter, Okongwu...lol

Glad we offered what we did.

Ben Simmons next to Trae and Hunter is a pretty flawless fit. It'd be a perfect combination of defense, shooting, passing. With those three as the core, the SG and C spots suddenly become less important. Interchangeable, complementary pieces to be replaced as necessary.

Centers who'd fit well next to Ben Simmons:

  • Karl Anthony Towns
  • Brook Lopez
  • AL Horford
  • Myles Turner
  • Kelly Olynyk
  • Serge Ibaka
  • Jaren Jackson, Jr.
  • Wendell Carter Jr.
  • Mo Bamba.
Basically, anyone who can shoot from deep, block shots and rebound inside.

I could see Sac or Toronto putting together a package for him.

Definitely see SAC going for him. If he was open to a non-pg role, he'd be a great add. Too bad he doesn't appear to be willing to move off ball and therefore diminishes his own impact.

There are currently no stars who have openly requested out of their situation other than Simmons.

I also think most of the talk surrounding Simmons and his game has been so absurd. He’s an unreal defender, one of the game’s most lethal transition players and one of its best passers. Some fans think he’s not very good because the Sixers decided to build a roster without enough spacing to minimize his weakness. I guarantee that if he was on a team like the Hawks that has several top-notch shooters, he’d be viewed differently. His weaknesses are just badly exposed in Philadelphia.

What I don’t know when it comes to Simmons’ thinking is what he wants out of his next team. Does he have to be a point guard? How would he feel about doing the dirty work? If Simmons was fine being anything other than a point guard, he’d be great for Atlanta. Obviously, he wouldn’t be a primary point guard with Trae Young on the team.

What I also like about Simmons is his versatility. He can play any position on the court in certain lineups. You can’t say that about many other players in the league. That’s valuable.

“Size, speed, strength, ability to guard smalls, ability to guard bigs, what more do you want? He has it all,” a coach said of Simmons in our poll on the league’s best defenders. “Length, shot-blocking ability. They’re such a dynamic team when he’s on the floor. Quick in the passing lanes to get steals. That’s his contribution to the game.”

I still think trading for Simmons would have to come at the right price; he’s not the kind of player I personally would trade numerous first-round picks for, but two and a young player plus whatever salary-matching necessary? Sure, why not? The Hawks are expected to be one of the league’s best teams, so those picks should be in the 20s. I’ve seen some people speculate that Cam Reddish and Danilo Gallinari would be enough of a return for Philly to part with Simmons. That’s just comical.

I know there aren’t many of us on Simmons Island after the playoffs, but in the right situation, I do think he can thrive.

The playoffs aren't played in transition. And we wouldn't be able to play him and Capela on the court together.

And he seems like a dick.

The issue is in what role Simmons views himself. Will he be willing to do the dirty work stuff closer to the basket or will he still see himself as the 'Point Guard' and want the ball and offense run thru him (he pouted when Butler was on the team and Philly did that).

The early returns for Ben Simmons this season were...impressive. Whoever gets this guy in trade is getting a beast of a player who will be motivated like never before in his career.

Seven possible landing spots for Ben Simmons

3. Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta is a prime consolidation candidate with a bevy of good, young and similarly skilled wings: Kevin Huerter, Cam Reddish and De'Andre Hunter. Flipping two of those guys for a player like Simmons, who would further solidify what became a tough defense in the playoffs, makes sense. In a straight-up two-team trade, Danilo Gallinari, whose shooting and ability to eat clutch possessions as an individual shot creator would help Philly, could be included to make the money work.

Playing Simmons alongside a non-shooting big like Clint Capela isn't ideal offensively, but Capela isn't used in the same way as Embiid. He isn't a focal point in the post clogging the lane. And Atlanta would be more versatile in terms of its ability to go small: Simmons at the five with John Collins, a capable shooter at the four, Hunter/Huerter/Reddish at the three, and Bogdan Bogdanovic alongside Trae Young in the backcourt. That's a serious five with legit title-contending potential.

Hunter is a terrific defender with 3-point shooting potential who made a huge leap this season in creating shots off the dribble. Huerter is one of the quietest studs in the league. He can shoot the lights out and create for himself and teammates as a secondary playmaker (he makes some high-level passes off the dribble and has a natural court sense).

Philly wouldn't be getting back the lead guard it truly needs, but perhaps that's where a third team could get involved. I'm looking at the Charlotte Hornets, who could send Terry Rozier to Philly (with Reddish and Huerter from Atlanta) and get back Tyrese Maxey from the Sixers and Clint Capela from the Hawks. Either way, if Atlanta were to come calling with its trio of young wings, this is a package worth considering for the Sixers depending on what else might be available.

Guy shrivels up like a slug in salt when the pressure is on. Also the thing with Butler and BS not wanting to play off ball. No thanks

8-)
Ben Simmons is really, really good. This is why he costs too much. Send us two of your young starters and a future 1st round pick and we'll talk. BS is a PG, therefore one of your starters will be Young. You decide which other starter you want to add to the pot.
And, don't forget that draft pick!

Reporting? No pay day and suddenly he's willing to show up! That's not chicken feed money, that's mega millions !!
Around these parts of the country, we say: "Money talks and B.S. walks!" Can't blame him. Millions in the deal.

What would it take to get Ben? More than I would be willing to pay, I'm afraid.

Someone is going to trade for Simmons. I just hope he goes west...
