Hawks would still need a #1.

Yes, I get it, Dyson can play some PG, but do I trust him night in night out as the lead point guard. Nope.

I agree, he's not a #1.

Many will disagree, but he doesn't raise his teammates to another level, and frankly, he just seems too content. He seems to like Phoenix, he said he wants to stay, and he could be a legend for him, if he stays.

So we don't want Booker because he's not a #1...even though he can play defense at a decent level and cover either guard spot.

But we seem set on keeping Trae even though he's not a #1, only plays one position, doesn't score at the rim efficiently, doesn't shoot from 3-pt range efficiently and is almost impossible to build a championship level defense around?

Not sure what you're reading but what you're describing isn't what's happening here.

I think the 'others' have a better chance at excelling and being elevated with Trae than with Booker.

That's fair.

And I'm not really tryng to push Trae out of the door. But his departure feels inevitable as we approach our 4th straight play-in.

Prime Devin Booker seems like the best we could even get in trade for TY.

And the defense the Hawks could potentially unleash with an entire switchable lineup of guys 6'6" and above would be beastly.

I feel how jayu does.

I have similar concerns as you, Jam. I have voiced my concerns about Trae.

I personally see Booker as a fixture in Phoenix. Now, that can change quickly in this league, but the Suns owner keeps Booker, unless Booker wants out. For now, he's said he wants to stay.

Read on Twitter

Q: What do you see for the direction of the franchise where it is now and where it could be going?

Trae Young: It’s hard to determine the future. I’m so stuck in the moment right now and focusing on what they wanted me to do this year by trying to build these young guys and give them confidence. I’m focused on that and not focusing on the end result. At the end of the day, focus on getting better every day and letting the results come as they go.

Q. You have the possibility of doing an extension this summer. Have you thought about that at all and what it could be?

Trae Young: Yeah. I’m still stuck in the moment right now and not really focusing on that right now. I know it’s going to come. People will be asking questions here. I’m just focusing on this team, building these young guys, and giving them confidence. At the end of the year, everything else will be discussed.

There are definitely more appealing roster pieces for Trae to stay in Atlanta than ever before...

We must not be content with what appears to be a set starting lineup. The same positions need upgraded.

If Trae decides he wants to leave would Memphis be interested? Surely, the Griz would try to trade Ja to us for Trae? I would want a package that involves Desmond Bane.

1. I agree.

2. Every position on this roster needs upgrading.

I'm honestly unsure about it.

I just don't want to deal with Ja's dad.

Tee Morant seems like a buffoon who never grew up and is just leeching on his son's money.

I would rather get SPJ and find a 3rd team of Ja...

Hawks get SPJ and Sabonus

Griz get Trae

Kings get Morant

Sabonus
JJ

I have no interest in Ja.
I just believe Memphis would want to include him in a trsde for Trae.

He's going under the radar.

I'm gonna use this thread to say something about Trae, because no one on the GB will care, but I owe it Jamaaliver after our various interactions on the subject. So, pardon the intrusion into your board, but here we go.

We've reached the point on the GB (perhaps we have been there a while now) where the criticism of Trae outpaces the reality of his limitations. And each time I see a thread about him now, I have to sigh and roll up my sleeves, because people are going to be nothing but complaining about him. And I imagine this is how you've felt for a couple years now, at least. And we've gotten into it about him more than once, so I figured I'd hand you your flowers on this one. I hadn't realized that he'd played with exactly 0 All-Stars his entire time in Atlanta. o.O That kinda blew my mind this afternoon. I've mentioned his general lack of help before, but I didn't realize it was THAT bad. I thought maybe Murray or Capela or someone had made it one year with the Hawks, but no.

Impressive player taking more than his share of flak these days.

Yeah. Thanks for the assist.
We've been talking about the 'no allstar' ad nauseum.
Every other player is getting 'allstar help' except him - but he's expected to carry the burden alone.
Welcome to the dark side.
