I don't think Onsi will offer that, he will certainly offer a long contract to make it big enough garanteed money, but still be a tradable asset in case it doesn't work later.

Agreed. These were the rumored offers last offseason:

Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy offered Kuminga a three-year, $75.2 million deal with a team option in the third season late last week. The offer is an increase of the team's previous proposal for a two-year, $45 million contract.

The Warriors reportedly made a non-team-option contract offer of three years and $54 million fully guaranteed for an average of $18 million per year, but that is below the annual average salary that Kuminga is seeking.

Sacramento Kings aggressively pursued Jonathan Kuminga, including offering a 3-year, $63M contract in a potential sign-and-trade with the Warriors. Other reports suggested the Kings offered up to 4 years and $90 million

In most cases, they seek/want to at least be over the psychological/marketing barrier of 100m guaranteed.
I would bet that Kuminga would prefer 110M/5yrs than 90M/3yrs, even if he's deaming about making 30M/yr

Still close to $30m per year unless he is content with $25m per year. I do agree as long as it's tradeable. I just hope we know everything there is to know about his knees.

Hawks face painful Jonathan Kuminga decision with time running out to define fit

Jonathan Kuminga has a club option and six regular season games left to prove he fits with Jalen Johnson.

Jonathan Kuminga is finally getting the opportunity he’s been chasing… or at least it feels that way.

After an abrupt breakup between Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors, more specifically with Steve Kerr, the young forward is starting to thrive in Atlanta. The ironic part? He probably could’ve done the exact same thing in Golden State, and the Dubs might be in a very different spot right now.

Kuminga has actually been productive despite playing fewer minutes than he did with Golden State:

• 2024–25 season: 24.3 minutes
• 2025–26 GSW: 23.8 minutes
• 2025–26 ATL: 21.5 minutes

Now take a look at his numbers:

• 2025-26 GSW: 12.1ppg - 5.9rpg - 2.5apg
• 2025-26 ATL: 11.7ppg - 5.3rpg - 2.1apg

So yeah, the issue never really looked like playing time alone. It felt more like a disconnect with Kerr and the role Kuminga envisioned for himself.

At the end of the day, the ship has sailed. But a calm, honest heart-to-heart between Kuminga and Kerr could’ve changed the entire storyline, maybe even turned Golden State into a stronger playoff contender and helped Kuminga grow into the player the Warriors always believed he could be.

Now he’s starting a new chapter in Atlanta, enjoying the fresh start and the freedom that comes with it. Still, one question will always linger in the background:

What if Kuminga and the Warriors had figured it out?

Really happy to see JK have the backing of his coach.

He is not a perfect player by any means but he has never been allowed to play through mistakes while he was a Warrior.

I'm hoping he can continue to build off of his game 2 success. His defense was a big factor down the stretch whether he was on ball or off ball.

He was locked in!
