I don't see Atlanta moving a rotational player to acquire 2nds and low end bench guys.
Right because that's basically the 5 2nds we gave away.
That’s basically why I asked if he’s part of future plans with a contract extension in the offseason. Is recouping your losses not better than just letting the guy walk? But maybe someone gives up a FRP I don’t know…
Obviously you guys have a better feel for the team than me, but from an outside perspective it seems like the Hawks would be better off served getting AJ Griffin and Kobe Bufkin minutes this year and next off the bench than giving Bey the decent sized extension he’s likely going to get.
Based on current roster construction and what likely needs to be done, i'd say he is apart of the future. We need his versatility off the bench. AJ and Kobe would benefit more from Hunter and DJM being traded, than Bey.
IMHO, Hunter should've been the one traded instead of Huerter. That alone probably prevents us from trading for Bey, drafting Kobe, and would've given us more long-term salary relief. I'd argue we never trade for DJM at that point, as we would've likely went with JJ earlier at SF and KH/Bogi at SG.
Ultimately, we're better served looking for a FRP if we're moving on from Bey.
