Was this Zacc's second visit to the Hawks?

What a complete let down situation to have the #1 overall pick in the draft, and likely not even having a chance at bringing in the best talent. To make matters worse, he might even go to your division rival. At this point, just surprise me and take Buzelis. At least he'd represent another upside angle over Risacher. Matter of fact, i'm cool with a trade down to get Buzelis and Ware.

This is very surprising to me.
The team with the first overall pick has always worked out the "top two" players in the league, unless that player, just has no desire to play for them.

Bilal Coulibaly and Alexandre Sarr must be very close friends.

Looks to me like they're avoiding "potential", development risk & if you look at the targets.

Hawks have Risarcher at 1 or trade down to explore a C (Clingan) & SF (Dillan) to maximize value, reduce risk

Risarcher & Clingan are far more ready to contribute than Sarr & if they do trade down from Risarchers upside at wing for Clingnan's lower upside & fit, it's in combination with an upside wing that Jam has been posting.

I look forward to Jalen and Okongwu posterizing BOTH of them for years to come.

Tis the season! stay tuned more rumors to come.
All this tells me is NO ONE has any clear idea what the Hawks will do. ...maybe not even they themselves.

A much more credible source:
Spoiler:
Sam Vecenie wrote:Clingan had a monster close to the season, helping lead Connecticut to a second straight national title while averaging 13.7 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks over his last 18 games, including 16 points, 9.4 rebounds and three blocks in his last seven. After returning from early-season ankle and foot injuries and getting back up to speed, he was one of the most dominant players in college basketball and was arguably the most imposing defender in the country through his sheer presence.

In my last mock draft in early June, I noted Clingan has been viewed as a potential option to go in the top three, and that remains the case. The Hawks might view Clingan more as a potential trade-down target and believe Risacher is a better potential option if they keep the No. 1 pick. The team has a workout with Risacher scheduled this week, which could result in a change of course in one direction or another. This selection process doesn’t seem like a done deal at this stage.

Atlanta might not even be able to move down all that far if it wants Clingan, as several teams picking below the top 3, including Memphis and Chicago, are interested in him and might try to trade up themselves.

Read somewhere that Orlando didn't work out Paolo Banchero, but they still selected him #1. Everyone thought they were taking Smith, even he was surprised when they didn't.

Alex Sarr, C/F, Perth Wildcats (France)

Sarr has only worked out for one team according to HoopsHype, and that’s the Washington Wizards. This feels like an obvious match if he’s still on the board at No. 2. Sarr has the best physical tools in the draft as an athletic 7’1 big man with a 7’4 wingspan who can run the floor, make plays above the rim on both ends, and has shown flashes of ball handling and shooting ability. The Wizards’ rebuild still feels like it’s in its infancy, and that means someone like Sarr — obviously talented but still years away from his potential ceiling — also fits the team’s big picture timeline.

Spacing with both Okongwu, Sarr and Jalen on the floor together would seem problematic.

That same spacing issue would exist (and probably even worse) with Okongwu, Clingan and Jalen.

But I have been told by Spurs fans that they don't want number one and would rather have a lower pick because it is a flat draft.

Fans don't seem to realize that teams obviously have players they like more so than others and it isn't a "we will be happy with whoever".
