The Dark-Horse Candidates
Trae Young (Hawks)

If you would have asked me before the draft to name three players on the Hawks, I’m not sure I could have done it.

That is to say this: These Hawks are a perfect fit for Young, if for no other reason than he should have the freedom to shoot as often as he pleases.

That’s exactly what Young’s path to winning ROY requires. He needs as long a leash as possible so he can throw the ball all over the gym, jack up air balls from 35 feet, and forget to play defense. Because if he’s given the green light to do all of that without holding onto the fear of getting benched, some absurd stat lines and incredible moments are sure to follow.

I hope they continue to underrate him and push this false narrative that he's some kind of selfish chucker. They will see how wrong they are soon enough.

^Sounds like you're going all-in on Young Trae.

The kid has potential...but I foresee some growing pains the first couple of years. Either way, we're positioned to build organically long term and it'll be extremely exciting to watch it play out.

I don't want that. He's not playing with a bunch of scrub players like his college team. I don't want him develop those bad habbits. He's playing with NBA players now.

Baze could probably wash everyone on OU's roster outside of Trae and he's like the 4th best starter on the Hawks. Will Trae have growing pains? Of course, but every possession won't live and die on him being able to create a scoring opportunity.

So far Lonnie Walker has said....
-The moon landing was fake
-The earth is only an allusion
-He doesn't celebrate the 4th of July because "Know your history and stay woke"

I am relieved we were tempted/able to purse this guy.

The criticisms of him definitely proving accurate early.

Omari seems like he should be able to do everything Mo Wags can do, right?

Still wrapping my head around a generation of NBA players too young to have seen Jordan dominate.

I think I'm getting old.
