I don't think the hornets have any unrealistic expectations. Dwight is the 2nd best center on our roster but he brings a totally different skill set than Cody. We just went through a decade of centers like bj mullens, Spencer hawes, and Roy hibbert. Dwight is not even in the same hemisphere as those guys.

I can't see any circumstances where he's less productive than miles Plumlee and bellinelli. It was a necessary trade on our part.

In a vaccum Dwight's skillset and stats is more productive than all the guys you mentioned, but it's the effect he'll have on the rest of your team. He'll rebound the heck out of the ball, when he does roll to the basket on PNR he'll be effective, when he runs the floor hard and your guards get him the ball for a quick easy bucket you'll love him. It's when he doesn't set a decent screen for Kemba because he's more interested in getting a rebound, when he gets in the post and calls for the ball then promptly turns it over or just make a horrible post move that clanks
On the rim, or gets it blocked - that's where your fustration will set in. When he shoots under 50% from the free throw line, when he sucks on the defensive PnR (he's really bad at it). Then you'll understand. He thinks he's Orlando Dwight - he's lost his athleticism so he can't over power and out quick guys anymore. He's already sitting out camp because of his back - that'll be an ongoing issue all season.

Right. But all that said he's still Miles better than Plumlee.

See what I did there?

Dwight is a better fit in Charlotte though. Dwight in our offense with a bunch of guys who can't handle the ball or shoot was destined to fail no matter what he did.

I give him 3 months...in a year he will be in a different uniform if the Hornets are lucky. Dwight will always be Dwight...just a goofy a$$ mafker who doesn't even love the game. Ya I said it, he's a liar...he's in it for the fame and glory. He came out as this god preaching so n so and he goes and fathers 17 kids by 9 women...I digress..sorry I had a Lurker flashback..I gotta shower now

Yea, he'll look way better with Kid-Gilchrist.

I expect MJ to flip Dwight Howard for value at some point.
It only makes sense to do so as basically MJ continues to build, but also building value is key, and Dwight offers him that.

Except Dwight has no real value. Most execs. thought his value was 2nd round pick at the deadline this past year. He'll be an expiring contract next year, that's his value.

How was Dwight's debut?

Nothing about Dwight is of any interest to me anymore. The most interesting thing in this article is this...
I asked Schroder about Howard’s time with the team and his relationship with his ex-teammate:

“Off the court he is a good guy,” Schroder said. “He did a great job trying to bring everybody together, as always. On the court we are too different. That’s on the court. But off the court, I think (he’s) amazing.”
How are he and Howard different?
“Personalities,” Schroder said. “I’m a little different than everybody, I think. I always just try to do everything I can to win the game. I’m too competitive, sometimes.”

Dwight always seems to show up for games against former teams. Unfortunately, he can’t seem to “get up” for many other games. The game against us was an anomaly that I expected.

And home openers. Charlotte fans are excited about Dwight. I remember that feeling.

At this rate, his former teams will number in the double digits. Giving him motivation 50 out of 82 games every year.

Wizards game to open the season last year and then a subsequent 9-2 run to start the season. Man, I thought we were about to give Cleveland a run in the ECF following that start with my blind optimism.

I take blame for the collapse soon after. We had a cupcake schedule on the horizon and, as we were in the process of beating the Bucks to go 9-2, I turned to my friend at the game and proceeded to imitate Nostradukis (an Atlanta Sports radio inside joke), saying: "I'm starting to look ahead! I am looking at 15-2!" My friend was going crazy saying I just jinxed the team but I was sure in my confidence...

The Hawks then proceeded to lose 10 out of their next 11 games after that.

How'd we manage to do that :( . I can't even remember that far back. All I remember is Bazeless and his contract shooting something like 11 % from 3.
