Was going to say some good news but than realized he was suppose to be healthy around the end of July. End of August and the word "hope" is attached :banghead:

Been bearish on him since the process of evaluation. I can see not many contributions for the short term, and then suddenly getting some steady flashes in years 3 and 4. There is no rush in trying to develop him too quickly since the team is getting deeper.

He needs to take as long as he needs. We will hopefully have many healthy years of success with him.

Yes no rush

the team is relatively deep at his position and has other youngsters to develop as well.

Huerter coming back from injury did not seem to be a big problem for him last year and I expect same slow and steady improvement for Cam.

Although for him, he must be dying to get out there

Love this pick

Bob Reddish, Cam’s father, told The Athletic that his son played all season with serious injuries that ranged from broken ribs and issues with his big toe. Shortly before the draft in June, Reddish underwent core muscle surgery — a surgery that was supposed to take just six weeks for him to be cleared. A source close to the team told The Athletic on Thursday that Reddish still isn’t cleared but believes it’s just days away from happening............In Schulz’s professional opinion, Reddish likely was rehabbing the injury all season long to get to a point where he felt comfortable to push through what he likely was experiencing pain-wise

Spoiler:
Reddish didn’t provide any excuses for his disappointing year at Duke. During pre-draft interviews with the media in New York City, he accepted responsibility for the way he played and blamed a poor diet that consisted of fast food and pizza, but he continued to try to play when he probably shouldn’t have.
“I just have that mentality to fight through it all. Continue to fight and push. I wasn’t going to use the injury as a reason for me to stop. Duke was a phenomenal opportunity, so I couldn’t turn it down,” Reddish said. “Can’t make any excuses. Just go in there, fight every single day, just work extremely hard, try to get better and get everything you can out of it. I feel like I did a good job of that this year.”

The average recovery time for surgery is six to eight weeks, but it could be longer, especially if the surgeon and athlete want to be on the conservative side. Reddish’s surgery was in early June, and the usual maximum eight-week timetable has passed. Schulz doesn’t think it’s unusual and believes the Hawks are just being cautious because it’s the offseason and there isn’t a need to rush him back on the court. He also says there shouldn’t be any cause for concern.

Teams are going to regret letting him slip to 10. Assuming no long-term effects, I can't wait to see him get unleashed in our offense.

8-)

Only the rabid Hawks fans now want to know, "How is Cam Reddish? When will we know?"

Those in the know believe the Hawks got 3 very fine draft picks this summer and await the
October 7th game. We all want to see the "new" Hawks of 2019-20..

At last! We can only imagine what we have. Playing his one year at Duke, being injured all the season.
He is way behind in working out. Will be several days before he really hits his stride. Take your time
but hurry! We all want to see what you can bring our Hawks team !!

Dare we to hope that our GM has hit it again in the draft?
Sure feels that way now, doesn't it..
When the season gets going, then we will know.

Who exactly is Cam Reddish? Is he the aggressive bucket-getter who could shoot from anywhere and who averaged 28 points per game on 51 percent shooting during his senior year of high school? Is he the guy who terrorized Philadelphia’s high school hoops scene and dominated AAU/EYBL games effortlessly?

Or is he the passive, non-assertive, sometimes low-motor guy that failed to live up to lofty expectations at Duke? At least to Reddish, he couldn’t care less about those people and their thoughts.

”It’s in the past, I have nothing to say to those people,” Reddish said at the Atlanta Hawks’ Media Day on Sept. 30. “I’m moving forward.”

Reddish is moving on from a Duke chapter that wasn’t as successful as his fellow Duke draftees or as he hoped, but he did provide some insight on why.

Injuries played their role.

”Injuries will limit you. That’s why they’re injuries,” Reddish admitted. “But that’s not an excuse. I was playing through it, and I was going to play regardless. I was banged up a little bit, but it never crossed my mind to sit out.”

Last year at Duke, Cam looked uninterested or not aggressive. The few pre-season games, at times he looks lost. Cam should dedicate his rookie season to defense and challenge himself to be the Hawks' best perimeter defender or a 6'8 PG defender. If he does that, I think it will do a lot for his confidence and his offense will follow.

At what point do you send Cam down to the G league? I would say do it now. I mean, shouldn't this guy at least have to prove he can play competent basketball on some level higher than high school before we hand the keys over to him?

I say send him down for the year, let him be the feature guy on the G league team. Make him earn his spot on the main club.

Or is he better off riding the bench on the main team but benefiting from being around the vets and also practicing?

I think I read where like 60% of the league has g-league experience now. It's certainly not the stigma that it used to be.

The question becomes, do they think he'll develop there or does CLP want to keep his hands/eyes on him full-time?

It seems like CLP is high on him so perhaps he wants to have full access to him?

I wouldn't mind seeing him go down. It can't hurt. However, I tend to trust CLP's plan. Seemed to work for Trae, and Heurter, when they struggled early.

I've been the most critical voice of Cam's play since the season started, and even I'm not ready to demote him out of the NBA...yet.

His being pushed into a starting role this early was clearly a mistake. He'd be better off just coming off the bench for 10-15 minutes a night early on. Getting reps in the gym, playing alongside Trae and Collins in limited run...and with a specific role in mind:

defend and hit open threes.

Starting him at SG, seeing him struggle, then starting him at PG on national TV...was ill-advised. Pushing him to the G-League directly following this underwhelming week seems like it could short circuit his confidence.

Put him on the bench, let him back up Hunter and Huerter for a few minutes each night. If we haven't seen enough growth by the end of November, quietly send him to College Park where he can work on his decision making, shooting, slashing, finishing in a lower profile setting.

No demoting Cam. You can’t. We don’t have the roster luxury to allow that. Also, he’s just a couple tweets away even if it may not seem it.

Get back to the principles. He needs game simulated strength. He needs hand strength. He’s been ripped numerous times so opponents know this on the scouting report.

Don’t press just let the game come to you. This does not mean BE PASSIVE. Pick ur spots to shoot or pass and do it with confidence.
