Trae Young and Giannis together makes me laugh.
Giannis with a point guard that can't do many positives won't work and both will expect extensions. Giannis doesn't need Trae at all.

The Hawks just literally had a younger starting lineup than Auburn that was in the natty last year. We are still in our rebuild. We simply aren't in position to cash in our chips and definitely not for a 30+ Giannis.

He's 31 and his game always mirrored that of a center. I mean does he accept that role for a team like the Hawks.

He struggles at the 5.

If Giannis and Lillard was a horrible pairing, then Trae would be the same
Giannis needs a defensive PG like Holiday.
Trading away Trae and then getting GA and pairing GA with DD makes alot more sense.

Re: Giannis Yes or No?
He is so ball dominant that he needs a solid off-ball PG (like Jrue was for the title team). Dame and Trae are too similar and we see how that happened.atlantabbq99 wrote:HMFFL wrote:Trae Young and Giannis together makes me laugh.

ATL Hawks Emerge as Favorites for Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Soon
In that pursuit, the ESPN insiders claimed the Hawks can make an offer that “would be too much to pass up.” Their projected trade package for Antetokounmpo would send out team great Trae Young, their top pick in 2024 Zaccharie Risacher, one of their first-round picks in 2026, and top four protected picks in 2027, 2029, and 2031.

Run Ressler out of town. Giannis leaves in a year and a half and we are screwed beyond belief for the next half a decade+HMFFL wrote:ATL Hawks Emerge as Favorites for Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade Soon

I do not like Rich Paul.
But i don't think the agent says this publicly unless he's already had the conversation with the client.

Hawks are rapidly approaching the crossroads to determine exactly 'whose team it is'.
If this was still TY's squad...he wouldn't be waiting idly for a contract extension to be offered.
If it was JJ's team, I don't think Hawks would have risked alienating him (and Klutch) by playing hardball on hi extension number.

I think it is a combination of looking at the model OKC has done where they are talent and asset rich (though none of the teams are going to be that rich in both) and looking at the situation other teams have created for themselves there they traded the farm away for players then had to move picks further and further out to keep extending that window (PHX, LAC, MIL).

The whose team it is will be determined come playoff time - if and when we get there.
JJ hasn't made it to the end of a regular season for the last 2 consecutive years, let alone the playoffs.

HOT Take: I still think that if Hawks end up drafting Cam Boozer, he could supplant JJ at PF pretty easily...
