King Ken wrote:Since we are listening to trades for Thabo, Kyle and Millsap. Here is the needs for each player.

Millsap- Rebuilding package. We want a high lottery pick. (Brooklyn's pick or multiple lottery like 1st round picks)
We want a stud ideally- Wiggins, LeVine.
We want a potential stud as value- Chriss, Bender and other valued assets.

Don't want mid to late 1sts.
Role players, young or old.
Contracts.

Cap space is more valuable than any of those trade pieces.

Korver

Ideal- A 1st in this upcoming draft.
Value- Future 1st.
Cap space
Bad - 2nd rounders.
Really bad- contracts who aren't good.
Really no c'mon for Korver since only a few teams will be interested.

Thabo

Ideal- A solid piece like Collison from SAC.
Value- Mid to late 1st or future 1st.
Cap space
Bad- 2nd rounders and such.

Value chart:

Ideal Trade value- Is good value for our asset. Our asset is a top 25 player and he have his bird rights. This is where we get exactly what we want.

Value- This is where we get pieces we can build with and potentially around depending on the player.

Cap Space- If Millsap leaves which is possible, cap space is still a valuable asset for us.

Bad Value - Cap space is better than that offer.
Really bad value - Cap space is way better than that offer.
C'mon, seriously - Stop trolling.

We got value for Korver. This is exactly what we wanted.

If we trade Sap or Thabo we want ideal value or value. Anything less, cap space is better.

The package OKC got from ORLANDO in the Serge Ibaka trade is the ideal scenario.

A young prospect capable of contributing immediately (Oladipo). A modest draft pick or high potential rookie (Sabonis or #11 pick). Short term salaried role players to balance out the numbers (Ilyasova).

Interesting - thanks for the reply. Some ideas:

Denver: Gary Harris, Danilo Gallinari, Jusuf Nurkic for Paul Millsap
Toronto: Terrence Ross, Patrick Patterson, Jakob Poeltl for Paul Millsap
Boston: Jaylen Brown, Amir Johnson, future 1st Round Pick (MEM) for Paul Millsap

Denver: Cap space is better, we are looking for rebuilding packages. Gary Harris is not needed since we have Bembry, Hardaway and other pieces. Nurkic just doesn't fit our system or style. Jokic does but he's untouchable.

TOR: They need to figure out how to get us someone like Jaylen Brown or Buddy Hield. If they can make a trade with N.O. where Sap is coming back to them, that's perfect but New Orleans wants Sap too.

Boston is the ideal value in this case.

Toronto fans, It's not that we wouldn't trade you Millsap, it's that you don't have the pieces we are looking for. If you can get us the pieces we are looking for in a 3 team deal, it would be great. Like for example: We would like Aaron Gordon. If you can land Gordon with your pieces, we trade you Millsap, then it will happen but if you can't, it's hard to find the right trade. You really don't have pieces that we covet.

On another note, I think Boston wants a center like Cousins, not Millsap. That's who they really really want.

Denver's never paying that for a 3mo rental. Millsap is going to test free agency, he's on record saying as much. At his stage in life, he probably won't want to stick around a team that is working to get into the playoffs, he wants a chance to comtend and being realistic, DEN is that place yet. Nurkic and Harris is too big of a price to pay for 3mo, ain't happening.

:banghead: Someone take away Budenholzer's front office power. You trade a first for Hardaway, wait until he starts getting his game together and now you want to move him for 2nds because you don't want to pay him in RFA :banghead:

Do you all think you are really going to get players like Heild or Brown for milsap who is a free agent. No team is going to give you an asset like that unless milsap basically signs with them that day. It is a half a year rental for sap guys.

So you are saying that no team that trades for Millsap had an intention of bringing him back? I'm pretty sure if a team is trading for him they are willing to gamble that he will resign with them.

Wow, Sixers are interested in Millsap?!?! I wonder if Noel's name is going to be brought up in the negotiations?

Kings are also interested in Millsap, I'm guess the offer will be Rudy Gay for Millsap, which is pretty much a lateral move for the Hawks.

I don't think Lou would net much more than a late first. Korver is a stud spacer who is a great 3pt shooter. People know Lou and what he is: a player who has a history of chucking.

I think Gallo for Sap is the move we need to be eyeballing. With Korver out of the lineup now, we could use a surefire threat from the perimeter, if we are keeping Howard. Not only that, but we get a young enough piece that allows us to still compete with. The most we would end up losing is Sap's rebounding, but I think we can find another move to replace it.

Ainge may be really stingy but even I think that is a bit of an overpay by Boston. Atlanta doesn't have much use for Okafor both from a system and positional fit and Covington is beyond deadweight.

-A pick would have to be coming Atlanta's way from either Philly, Chicago or one of the Nets picks to justify moving Millsap.

-Okafor can be diverted to either Boston to justify giving up their haul..

-or Chicago to justify giving up Butler.

Yeah. It's a bad look. And it's a bit of a double-edged sword. The better Tim Jr. plays, the more likely he is to get a huuuge 'Allen Crabbe' type offer ATL would be hesitant to match.

THJ is getting paid. But it's difficult to justify US paying that much having just paid Bazemore and drafted Taurean.

Committing that much money to Bazemore limits greatly what we do moving forward. And paying THJ $17 million doesn't get us closer to contention.

(NOTE: I really wish we'd pursued Harrison Barnes last summer instead of Baze.)

Barnes is definitely proving the naysayers wrong right now, but he also had some question marks on his game. Hats off to Dallas rolling the dice though.

I always had a bad feeling that THJ would thrive once he got the chance to really do so, and the Baze signing would prevent us from keeping him.

If we really can't afford him, I'd look into at least doing a S&T (we have leverage in that we can match any contract) where we get more value than just 2nd rounders (pennies).

Okafor isn't considered a positive for the Hawks roster and that Clippers pick is worse than the pick Cleveland gave up for Kyle Korver. Either way, Millsap is off the market, certainly if that's the best being offered.
