This is the final 4 minutes of the 4Q vs Chicago. It's some of the worst offensive basketball I've ever seen

  • Both of the Hawks PGs dribble the ball incessantly with little-to-no passing.
  • No movement/cuts/screens by players away from the ball.
  • Murray and Trae repeatedly take off balance, contested long 2-pointers.

It really is just 'my turn, your turn' basketball. Why have we abandoned the PnR with the best pick and roll player in the NBA?!?

:nonono:

Nate has to go. His scheme is archaic and ineffective.

There is no defense for a team built on offense to look this bad.

Trae Young is the best offensive player on the court...and defenders literally turn their back to him when he doesn't have the ball...

Cause they know he isn't going to move. :banghead:

We should be looking to push the pace after every opponent miss...this is too easy.

Running 3-pt shooters off screens? What a novel approach.

It's like 70% coaching, 30% roster construction.

Last seasons front court rotation from distance:
Capela 0% - Okongwu 0%.
Collins 36% - Gallo 38%

This seasons front court rotation from distance:
Capela 0% - Okongwu 0%
Collins 21% - Johnson 21%

Yes the backcourt needs to pick it up while already being the best players on the team... Still a massive amount of pressure being put on them if the entire front court continues to be non shooting anchors.

It's fairly clear a combo forward of some sort is needed capable of connecting volume 3s. Sounds like Crowder/Kuz etc at this juncture.

But none of these two will help playing, when needed, with a C able to shoot 3s, unless it's with John at C, which can work when small ball is the solution, but not if he has to defend on big Cs

That's why I thought we need more a guy like Turner, but one of Capela/Okongwu would have to go.
Now, this team, with Capela/Okongwu, already won a series Vs PHI and Embiid and was able to fight with MIL and Lopez, so it might be possible to win even without a C shooting 3s...

A not-so-veiled plea for our team to dump the half court, slow down approach and just run it down the opponents' throats.

This isn't veiled. It is exactly that.
The last 5+ minutes of these 4th quarters is Nates call to slow it down and ho ISO. He's not on the sidelines pissed, he's accepting of this because it's what he wants. He can't call a real play to do something else.

But if he was unable to call a play, he should be the first to scream "I don't know what to play, so please, don't do half court game, and push the ball, push the ball, push the ball and attack them on fast break and transition!"

This what makes no sense. And if he's has nothing to say, it would be that the players can decide what to do, so why don't they learn that if they slow the game, they are dominated. It's crazy to hear Trae talking about what happen during this game, we don't need him to tell that, we saw it, and we saw it in every game.
This is why I want to know who decides to do that. There must be some pretty stupid guys in this team (staff+players), or it's done on purpose: players doing that to get Nate fired, or Nate asking for that because he know from Fields hiring that he will be fired and he doesn't care at all to the point of asking stupid things.

I never liked Nate as head coach, but come on, I even made a video of some of his plays with POR at least ten years ago when he killed ATL with great offensive ball movement (I think it was Roy, Frye, Rodriguez and another one). They had several options of the same play depending on how opponent react, and they got each time a shooter totally free.

On offense, particularly late in games - Nate wants ball control and low turnovers at the end of the 4th. That's why he slows it down.

This is insane:
The Hawks scored 62 points during the first 18 minutes of the 2nd half They only scored 6 points the last 5:46 of regulation They went heavy Trae/DJM/Bogi iso ball during that stretch and (shocker) it didn’t work
Pace Pace Pace

Gone are these kinds of reads. Particularly how quickly we run these plays..Pace and Tempo.
