Business side of the organization.

More indication Ressler's more focused on the operations side than the sports component...

Hawks promote Andrew Saltzman to CCO

The Hawks and State Farm Arena have promoted its versatile exec ANDREW SALTZMAN to the multi-faceted role of President of Business Enterprise & Chief Commercial Officer, with a particular eye on the commercialization and enterprise value of the under-construction Centennial Yards mixed use district.

"I'm looking out my window and seeing seven cranes as Centennial Yards is well underway, and that's a massive project right here at the doorstep of State Farm Arena and Mercedes Benz Stadium," Saltzman told SBJ yesterday. "That's really where this opportunity started to percolate."

Leveraging the estimated $5B Centennial Yards project -- a proposed downtown 8-acre "center of gravity" between Centennial Olympic Park Drive and MLK Jr. Drive scheduled to open in 2026 --Saltzman said he expects to sell sponsorships and signage throughout the entertainment district, especially since Ressler's outdoor business includes the "largest digital marquees and digital spectaculars in Atlanta and, really, probably in the Southeast."

In addition, he said State Farm Arena will enhance Centennial Yards with convenient parking, as well as games and concerts that should attract significant crowds.

"I think you really can bifurcate this new opportunity into two buckets, if you will," Saltzman said. "You have leveraging relationships and partnerships and joint services agreements here in downtown, ie. Centennial Yards. And then you have really the big events that are coming to downtown Atlanta, and how you can leverage that."

"It's not just about the Hawks and State Farm Arena," he said, "It's about everything else coming downtown and the belief in Atlanta."
