I'm not advocating for a KAT Trade, but it wouldn't be the worse idea to buy low on Karl-Anthony if the opportunity presents itself. We'd clearly need to add some draft picks to this offer.

A front court rotation of KAT-Jalen-Okongwu could be beastly.
OO backs up both Jalen and Towns. In certain end of game lineups...you can play all three together.
KAT spaces the floor at an elite level.

Dyson and Risacher provide the perimeter defense.

I'm curious if you guys would have any interest in using an expiring Nance and Capela to acquire an expiring Julius Randle to bring off the bench as backup PF?

JR could be a useful weapon with the 2nd unit in the postseason.

....said had discussions EARLIER in the offseason. Nothing recent. Might crop up again with Robinson's return delayed.
It'll be hard to do a trade with NYK without a 3rd team since Hawks have a full roster and Knicks would need 3+ players to make up the $22.2 million that CC is owed.

We need to make new trade partners.

No.
We'd have a size and defensive issue with only OO and the corpse Zeller at center. This helps NY so much more than us.

He also might not be ready for the season opener coming off shoulder surgery.

Capela and Nance make a combined $34.4 Million. NYK has to send out at least $34.4 million, so the only trade that works would be Randle and McBride at $34.6 million. any other iteration leaves the Hawks trying to take on too many players.
Then we have a center issue with only OO and the corpse of Zeller.

Devin Vassell, San Antonio Spurs

If things go sideways early, and the Hawks determine the Trae Young era has run its course, the most logical trade partner is the one who has several of their first-round picks. Vassell would help match salary, sure, but his offensive skills would pair nicely in the backcourt with the defensive-minded Daniels. Young for Vassell, more matching salary and several first-rounders could reposition the Hawks for a quick rebuild.

No thank you. Brown is worse offensively than Hunter and will cost us at least a frp for an expiring player. He doesn't have a fit on the team (should be behind bogi and daniels) and will want a big deal.

:D

Right now, I like what we have. Shake-down time for the current roster. See what we have this pre-season and the first twenty games or so. Then, maybe, we begin to consider a trade or two.

I would still try to trade Kobe + for Edey :D then trade CC for a backup PG

I stand by what I said. Daniels is the better & more versatile defender now as a 20yo than Murray. He gets to a point where he can punish teams for leaving him open, he's as good a compliment to a high usage guard with his 12% usage rate as he was with Zion's volume efficiency. +12 net pairing when starting with Zion in CJ's 10 game absence.

Dyson has been extra special on defense next to Trae and his offense has also been quite good. Trae will unlock him on offense.

I know one thing is that I would have that SAC FRP on the table for a trade. We have the LAL FRP and enough youth. If a trade opens up and we can improve C I would be very happy. With two big expiring contracts in useful players (CC, LN Jr) and the SAC pick we should be able to improve the team.

Back up PG is wait and see for the moment. See if Kobe can do the job...

I agree with the premise but would offer the "lesser" of the LAL and SAC picks.

Players on my radar

Dennis Schröder for Larry Nance Jr.

Naz Reid and salary filler for OO

Hawks have a starting center issue and a quality backup PG issue.

They are legit everywhere else when healthy.

You guys had me convinced last trade-season that RJ Barrett was some scrub.

Dude looks rejuvenated in Toronto under his 3rd head coach in 9 months....
