Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread
I watched Orlando at least 10 games this season. How many times did YOU watch them? Vucevic stuck out to me as an average starting C on a team full of subpar players. I'm not sold on his play. His rebounding is nice, but his offense and defense are not.
I suggested picking up Splitter because we will have lots of cap space, and he can play NEXT TO Teague and our rookies, rather than INSTEAD of. Vucevic may end up being a better player than Splitter due to age, but Teague/Splitter/#17 >>> Vucevic and a replacement PG that we'd sign (look at the FA guard pool, it's horrific).

I watched about a half dozen ORL games this year. Including his 30 point/20 rebound game and a few others during his stretch of 9 straight double-doubles to end the season. (He avg 18/15 during this stretch.)
At 22, the kid has potential. He's big, strong and improving rapidly. I don't have a bar graph to illustrate his abilities, but he's a solid player and better than PLumlee.
Teague is an afterthought. He may be around next season, but is not in our plans long term. Vucevic should be in our long term plans. He's young, cheap, efficient and productive. For a team that's been in the bottom third in rebounding for the past decade, obtaining the top rebounding Center in the East for scraps seems like it's at least worth the effort. Unless Gorgui Dieng or Miles Plumlee is supposed to alter the fortunes of our franchise.
U keep advocating Pek and Splitter, but Vucevic's production is on par (if not better) than either of those guys. And Splitter has reached his peak, Vucevic is still improving.
Again, analytics is a tool to assist with assesing value, not a replacement for actually watching players and appreciating their production.

You guys want to deal Horford, really? Looks like Paul's going to stay in LAC if they get Doc..
Question from a Celtics fan- if Smith is going to walk, would you sign-and-trade him for Deandre Jordan?

We're not dealing Horford, Paul hasn't given any indication that he'd here if we got West so we're keeping the better younger player. But I could see us doing Smith for Deandre, only if we strike out on other FA center like Al Jefferson though

and I couldn't see a Smith for DeAndre deal. He is vastly overpaid and would handicap out caproom for the enxt 2 seasons while he is on the roster. He is basically a big body for the Clippers. Not an amazing rebounder, not a great scorer, not a great blocker. When a player is known for a dunk over his 5 year career, then you know they aren't that good.

If we strike out on Pek and Dwight, DeAndre could be a solid pickup. Not a building lock, but a stop gap and a future trade piece.
He's better than Petro, Collins and other backup Centers we've had.

DeAndre's also being paid major money.
I'd take him, but only if we're getting bundled picks.

Smith for Jordan?.... Could the $10 million in cap space that Jordan would eat up be used in a better way? so its a question about value.
Jordan's contract is about 2 million too much of what he is worth, but he is young. and then when you think about it, Jordan's skills doesn't really fit into the San Antonio system.
Jefferson and Pek's skills do fit into the San Antonio system, but they will probably cost 12-14 million.
Splitter does fit into the San Antonio system, he is young, and would probably only cost 7-8 million
This is why i would rather find a third team and trade Josh for a draft pick, even if it is a low first round pick.

Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread
Wiz fan here, just curious as to a couple things. One, what direction are you guys headed in now, a possible reload or maybe tanking for the '14 draft? I see not a lot of guys are on the roster but I'm sure guys don't want to waste money on bad deals when there is good talent available in 14/15.
I also wanted to know how much value you think the 17/18 pick has to your organization currently. I was wondering if Ariza+38th for the 18th+filler (although I'm not sure what filler you guys have) had any interests to you guys. Ariza is an average 3, but he expires so at least there is some flexibility there.

We have cap space to pursue top free agents THIS summer. If we strike out there, we begin a patient rebuild and try for top free agents next summer.
We are trying to move up in this draft.
We have 0 interest n Trvor Ariza or more expiring deals.
We might tank for Wggins, hard to say as our GM is ultra secretive.
Again, Ariza does not interest us at all. At all.
At. All.
17/18 will be building blocks for our future or trade bait to move up in the draft.

Why did you guys draft Schroeder when you have Teague?

Re: Atlanta Hawks Official Trade Ideas Thread
^Our GM is new and apparently is not 100% sold on Teague as a championship caliber PG.
He is basically replacing a good PG with a potentially VERY good PG prospect.
Teague will likely be extended a qualifying offer this season and brought back on a one year deal. But Dennis Schroeder is the future.

I think that was said is a likely reasoning. It is probably also insurance in case Teague received a very large offer and we can't match it, or if we let Teague walk in pursuit of a dwight/cp3 option.

No. Horford is the closest thing we have to a franchise player. He's healthy, a hard worker and on a great contract. No one in that trade provides the production or skills that AL brings.

So the Hawks give up only a 2nd round draft pick and end up with Bogut?!?
Hell, yeah!!!! Bogut has only one more season on the books at $14 million which frees us up for a run at free agents in 2014. He and AL could work well for a season together.
Teague, Horford, Bogut help keep us competitive and leave us with just as much flexibility next off-season.

Are you, perhaps, trolling? Saying either we or CLE are going to have the 2nd overall pick?

Count us in, FNQ!!!
One man's garbage is another man's treasure.
The expiring contract of Andrew Bogut could be very valuable this season. Especially if it only costs us a 2nd round draft pick.
