Two mornings in a row, now, I keep waking up to Woody on Get Up!

**pause**

That's COACH Woody, on ESPN's Morning Show with Greenie.

I'm still gonna consult my doctor, though.

All you get is sideeye from me, brah.

You quoted my only comments re. GT bball for the next few years.

Some shld be hoping AZ jettisons Miller and chooses to go to a squeaky-clean former AZ guy to get their program back in compliance.

I think I might literally be having a heart attack over this news. This might be the worst sports news I've heard since we signed Joe Johnson to that bajillion $ contract

Ok that was cheesy on my part.

Serious question: Who is it worst news for?

NYG? Cleveland? ODB?

Giants have only had a winning record once in the 5 seasons he was with the team. They didn't break up a contender...they got rid of a troubled, knuckle-headed primadonna and got solid value in return.

Spoiler:
I'm sorry, but when ODB accidentally revealed to the world that he and his model girlfriend recreationally use c o c a i n e, I would have dumped him immediately after that.

His presence didn't make New York a winner, so why would his departure make them a loser?

Browns should be much improved on the field. But that locker room could get fractured in a hurry once adversity hits.

The Primadonna that is OBJ can go either way - either he hates it in Cleveland being out of the lime light or he embraces it and make everything a out football.

Agreed. ODB has his money and Cleveland is a surprisingly competitive young team moving forward. He has a chance to re-write his legacy and cement himself as one of the elite WRs of this era.

Or he could pout, flame out and fall out of the league like Josh Gordon and Johnny Manziel.

It really is up to him.

The Giants got rid of a HOF-caliber WR who is only 26 and signed to a long term contract for only a slightly better return than what the Raiders got for Amari Cooper, who is not only substantially worse, but also needed a contract extension.

Odell's presence didn't 'make New York a winner' because our team IS STILL COMMITTED TO PAYING A 38 YEAR OLD ELI MANNING $28 MILLION TO MISS OPEN RECEIVERS AND THROW CHECKDOWNS WHEN HE'S NOT WALKING INTO SACKS.

:banghead:

Eli hasn't been even average since 2015. Here's how he's ranked since then, by QBR:

2016 - 25th/30
2017 - 26th/32
2018 - 26th/33

Keep in mind that his 2018 numbers are buoyed by Saquon Barkley picking up > 700 receiving yards, almost all yards after the catch AND yards after contact, since the whole deal last year was Eli dumping to Saquon for 2 air yards, Saquon immediately getting hit by a defender, and then Saquon picking up 6 yards anyways because he's also a HOF caliber player.

:banghead:

The offensive problems at this point are almost entirely on Eli Manning, and half the defensive problems are due to the defense simply quitting on the offense two seasons in a row (again, due to Eli).

Do we address that problem? Nah, let's trade the HOF WR, keep paying Eli, and per ESPN reports either draft Daniel Jones or to not address the QB problem at all.

Mind you NY could have rebuilt very simply and on the fly. This generalized plan that would have gotten us back into ~.500 territory, and would have set us up way better for the future:

    * Cut Eli Manning, save $17 million in cap space

    * Do the Case Keenum trade that Washington did (lose a 6th, gain a 7th and Keenum, take on $3.5M in cap), keeping in mind Keenum had a career season under Pat Shurmer

    * Use the additional $13.5M in cap savings to fill holes in the roster (DE, LB, CB, RT)

    * Draft Dwayne Haskins at #6

    * Draft BPA rest of the draft

Boom. We have a veteran bridge QB, our QB of the future, filled our depleted roster, and didn't trade away a HOF WR for 60 cents on the dollar.

Also, this is what Cleveland looks like post-trade:

QB: Baker Mayfield

WR: Odell Beckham, Jarvis Landry, Antonio Callaway, Rashard Higgins

RB: Kareem Hunt, Nick Chubb, Duke Johnsin

TE: David Njoku

OL: Above-average across the board

All that with an excellent young defense, and I have zero doubt in my mind that team competes and makes the playoffs, likely winning their division.

That you think Odell is anything like Josh Gordon or Johnny Manziel is hilarious. He's never had a drug problem, he's always in excellent football shape, and he always plays hard on the field.

This guy does a great job of talking about why the 'Odell maturity' thing is not a legitimate concern at 3:57 (he's also a really good analyst in general and deserves more subs):

:dontknow:

I get your frustration. But NYG were a bad team with him. And now they'll be a bad team without him.

The second best thing i saw today:

Lincoln the goat sworn in as Vermont town's new mayor, immediately defecates

Image

If you haven't heard, Fair Haven has just elected its first mayor: a 3-year-old Nubian goat named Lincoln. On Tuesday, she had to be sworn in.

And although the swearing in was a success, within minutes of assuming office, the police chief was already dealing with the mayor’s first mess; he grabbed a broom and dust pan after her goatness couldn’t wait for a bathroom.

“Note the crap,” joked Mark Gutel, owner of local coffee shop Kinder Way Cafe. “It’s just like any other meeting.”

Not a drug 'problem' if it doesn't impact your work

Thanks for that goat news, I needed that

The NY Giants have signed Tate to replace OBJ. While OBJ is better the Giants did good by signing Tate.

Now, the trade with Cleveland outraged many Giant fans, but they can build from the draft, and fill many holes that are needed. They must make good use of the draft picks!!

Every Dallas Cowboy fan I know is excited about OBJ being traded but the draft picks will talk the story.

I dedicate this to you, @jamall ....

So we took Wendell Carter to a strip club (reported by his momma, btw, probably from their adidas-funded mansion at the time), let him meet Jarrett Jack and gave him $300 ...

... but Kansas/Lville/Duke/UNC/etc .. are paying dudes 6-7 figures ... some of which on tape ... but GT's violations are "major".

And the NCAA wonders why folks consider them a joke?

If anything, punish us for trying to poorly to cheat. I'd accept that 'cause it'd be true.
