I'd consider trading Kobe + 2nd rounders for him.

What is your opinion of Kobe now? I have been taking the waiting approach on him.

Houston is third in the West so I doubt they do anything drastic. I'd love to have him.

Absolutely not.
Dwight has still not matured and we don't have a player that can contain his personality.

Bubble championship for example; Dwight did what was asked of him on the court, bully ball at it's finest, and the way he got under the skin of Jokic, but Lebron had his work cut out for him with Dwight Howard & Dennis Schröder on his team.

Denver really exposes how shallow the Hawks' post player depth really is.....
Jalen sitting didn't help.

However, Milwaukee exposed that our 5 and lack of size was an issue in the ECF.

I don't think our front office will consider Dwight Howard but we'll see.

You and I were both really high on him during the pre-draft process.

The injury concerns related to his thin, wiry frame are legitimate. And with Dyson and Risacher onboard, there may no longer be a path for heavy minutes in Atlanta.

Also, he isn't a true PG and shouldn't be pigeonholed into that role. I think he's a higher caliber of prospect than Dyson Daniels. But I fear he won't reach that level until he's on his next team...

I wasn't high on him and didn't like the pick. I just don't see him having a long NBA career. No passing, no shooting, a pesky defender but no size or strength. What is his upside role on a team?

I trade Kobe for Smith in a heartbeat

Kobe probably ends up filling a Malik Monk-esqe role off the bench -- backing up both guard spots.

If his 3-pt shot ever gets ironed out to a more consistent weapon, he could excel in a low usage role as a starter next to a scoring forward -- similar to the role Derrick White has carved out for himself.

It's worth noting: neither of those players truly blossomed until they left their initial NBA team.

Claxton is owed $97M over the next four years. He is very over paid and we don't have the cap space going forward

Capela, Nance and a couple other small expirings - cost to sign draft pick/s will leave little cap space under the first apron next season. Adding Claxton salary will put Hawks way over 1st apron for next season

Unless Ressler is ready to spend more, trades for future salary will need to be offset with future salary going out

$25, $23, $20 million after this season. That's manageable with a rising cap vs his declining salary.

As long as the Hawks are a tax avoidance team.at all cost, we'll never take the next step.

10 players at $160 mil
9 players at $155.5 mil ( Bufkin traded)
Luxury Tax $187 mill
Space under LT $31.5 mil - Claxton $25 mil = $6.5 mil under the tax without 3 players to sign.

Claxton is a player that I've considered. Having an off year and that FT%.... I think you would have to be down on Kobe to make Jayu's deal. I am down on Kobe.

It would improve the team this year but may be regretted if Kobe gets healthy and that Sac pick is in the teens either this draft or next

I would keep looking for a C, keeping an eye on Claxton. He is likely the most attainable before the deadline

So that $6.5M would need to sign a FRP and a couple vet mins I suppose. Right up against the apron

If Okongwu was showing continued growth there wouldn't be this much concern. But I swear sometimes he looks confused as to what he supposed to do and where he is supposed to be.

Okongwu must be automatic from three in practice so he feels like he needs to attempt 2 or 3 per game. He needs to stick to mid range and close to the rim.

I don't mind a 3 here and there, but there should never be ANY games where he's taking more 3 attempts or equal 3 attempts than 2s

Think I pass on Claxton. Not that I don't think he's a good player. Just don't think he's worth the coin and value, nor does he move the needle enough to make a difference.

Houston has so much young talent, they can't provide consistent minutes, shots for top prospects on their own bench.

It's effecting morale and development of their young guys.

I'd craft a trade package right now around DeAndre Hunter and the Kings pick for Cam Whitmore and Jabari Smith, Jr.
