Salary cap projection - What it means?

The salary cap is now being projected at 56.1M for next year.

That's higher than early estimates and has several implications.
#1) that would result in a luxury tax threshold of approx. 68M
#2) it means that with a a little renouncing that 8 teams have money for a max free agent (NY, Mia, Chi, NJ, Sac, LAC, Was, Min)
#3) it means that the Hawks can pay Joe the max without paying luxury tax.
#4) the Hawks might be able to hold onto Mo Evans even if he opts out (up to about 4.6M offer)
#5) if those 2 things happened we'd be done (no room for more signings).
I'm not saying we should do these things, but we could without paying the luxury tax. Early projections had it possible that we'd have to pay the tax just to keep Joe.
