I just read on ESPN that Tony Parker might get dealt this summer as San Antonio strives to remake the roster and he is the most tradeable asset. Got me thinking if they would like to do a S&T for Joe Johnson? I'd do it, but I doubt they would. Changes up their team but doesn't get them younger. Then it got me to think of a larger deal:

If they'd rather do Childress than Williams in a dual S&T I have no issue with that although it would bloat the payroll for 1 year. I think the size of the deal would overcome any BYC issues involving Childress (at least I hope).

We'd be giving up more talent, but we'd be dumping some longer term commitments and were losing Joe anyway. Furthermore this is about fixing the makeup of this team. Jefferson would be gone after 1 year, but I'd like to resign Parker and I expect contract lengths will get shortened in the new CBA which would fit perfectly with his age. I don't really like giving up on Marvin without seeing him under a different coach (I prefer a Childress deal), but I realize that he will never live up to the expectations of a #2 pick in a Hawks uniform. The pick is negotiable and might not even be in the final trade if it has Childress in it.

I think Tony Parker and his style of play would energize fans and sell tickets. We'd need a new coach and new system, but I think we could maintain our playoff position (especially in the Childress deal) and possibly even improve if the team clicks. As a bonus, Teague would get more time to improve and the system and mentor would better suit his skill set as well.

Interesting. I was also thinking of ways to bring in TP over. I would love a way to both get rid of Marvin and bring in Parker.

I'm down with that....if only to ogle at Eva Longoria during Hawks home games!!!!!

And yeah, it makes good basketball sense also.

Im an Orlando fan and Im sorry to say this but I'm quite disappointed in the Hawks team and coaching staff. I mean, I saw more heart when y'all played the Celtics in the first round in 2008 and I can see it in your teams body language that y'all gave up. As a basketball fan, I see that as the biggest letdown to your fans and it all starts with Mike Woodson. His nonchalant attitude is the reason why this team isn't succeeding as your team should. I told Atlanta fans from day one, your team needs to play uptempo and the perfect coach to maximize the talent of this team offensively is Mike Fratello. Woody doesnt deserve to be a head coach in the NBA or anywhere for that matter like Mike Brown because they just rely on the teams talent. Joe Johnson is also another piece of the blame of the organization because he went from underrated to overrated after that great displaying in that Boston series and didn't deserve to be on the All-Star team over J-Smoove and the All-NBA third team over Rajon Rondo. Joe Johnson is unmotivated, not a player you build a franchise around and a ball-stopper. He just looks to shoot and in game 2, yall should of won but why you all lost, poor coaching decisions by Woody and Joe Johnson ball hogging. Nevertheless, fire Woody and let Joe go to Chicago, Boston, Cleveland or NY. If Joe goes to NY, he will be booed eventually because to be effective, he has to be the second-fiddle. In my opinion, you all have a great core of Smith and Horford. Build around those two, Josh Smith I do say needs a better outside shot and cannot let the game get to him if he doesnt agree with a call. Im a huge Josh Smith fan and I truly believe that he can be a great player if hes more consistent, get an outside shot and dont let the game get to him. Horford I believe is a good rebounder, defender, jumpshooter, and has a great winning attitude. He needs to work on consistency and is out of position. But this team needs a true center and a PG. Now I believe two trades could possibly help yall.

Trade Marvin Williams, Randolph Morris and a secound round pick for Chris Kaman and Steve Novak. What sets your team apart from being a contender is a three-point shooter, a point guard and pure center. But I am not done, your team needs a real PG.

Also, I would trade Bibby for either of these PGs, Calderon or Tony Parker but for your team- Parker would be a better fit because hes a better leader. Trade Mike Bibby, Maurice Evans and your first round pick for Tony Parker and Roger Mason. With that trade you get a horrible contract off the books and get an All Star PG. San Antonio will find a good player with that pick to rebuild around.

If everyone is healthy, thats a 55 win team and you will cause matchup problems for many teams. Now you have shooting to open up the paint and this will help Josh Smith's game a lot so more dunks for him. Novak and Mason Jr wont miss those same shot that guys had this playoffs.. Thoughts

Because everybody was saying they would get swept and it made them play with heart. But they were better than what they supposed to be. Even media were talking about the "only 37W" in regular season, but like every team that makes trades with impact, the record was biased, and with Bibby in, they were better than that.

Then they improved last season (47W), while lots of players got injuries, and were swept by CLE playing with three injured players.

The problem comes from this season.
Even with 53W, they are not better than last season. Woodson won't say it, because he needs to say that they are better to get his job. The media continue to say they are better due to this +6W, and certainly even the players thought they were better... but it's all wrong.
The same team than last season, without injury like this season, would have easily get the +6W.

Woodson did not improve this team, even with Murray out and Crawford in. That's all, and they start now to realize that, that's all.
Woodson is happy with Crawford because he's another Joe, with him he can justify his ISO offense.
Last year, it was only, so the other guys could create some "surprise", but now, it's Joe+Crawford.

There is still some minutes with movements, that make some hopes, but it's never the case in 4th quarter where this team turns to a real joke.
And now, it's more than only the fourth quarter.

I would do that trade in a heartbeat.

why not keep it simple..... Joe for Parker and Mason.

Great post. The stat they love showing every game about "improving every year" is so lame. They gutted the roster to the point where they were a 13 win team and slowly kept adding more payroll (Joe,Zaza,Speedy,Bibby,Crawford)and experience as the years went on.
