I want him gone, but im sure ill miss him multiple times during next season if he is gone.
Is it to much to ask for a team that plays hard and cares? Seems so.

I agree with you. I'm ready to move on. I want actual offensive game planning rather than take turns trying different isos. I'm sure I will miss Joe at several points during the season, but it'll pass as I consider the big picture.

The time has come. I appreciated his tenure, but hes not a #1 guy. Are you willing to take a step or 2 back to improve? A coaching change is inevitable, but its sad that we might not see this team with a competent coach. Ive thought about this, but maybe this team really does need to be blown up. Joshs immature and boneheaded plays hurt often. Horfs lack of size hurts. Marvin being Marvin hurts. I know that we wont blow it up, but in 2 years I can see us doing it. Im somewhat of a pessimist when talking about my teams, but I really dont see this team working out, with a true #1 and a coach.

Re: Jalen Rose: Joe has is done with the Hawks
No change is more important than ridding us of iso -offensive schemes.
JJ will hurt in some situations, but we still need a #1 superstar. I don't see how you convince someone to come here, so you are again at a crossroads. We need a player who can get to the FT line when teams force their athleticism on us?
What coach is willing to come in here and work with Sund to give us that #1? Is it going to have to happen through the draft?
Hubie Brown nails it in so many areas. This entire organization is responsible for the things that went on this year. The head coach is in charge and has to be accountable for what goes wrong on the road during games, and during timeouts.

i wouldn't mind resigning the guy for 7M, but anything more would be overpaying him. Joe just can't cut it as a #1. CP, Roy, Deron, Bosh, would all love to have the help that Joe had this year. really no excuses for Joe any more.

There is no doubt we will have to blow it up if Joe leaves. We are not a title contender and most stars are not going to come to Atlanta to sign. We basically will have to drop down to sucking in order to be in the running for a star.

"Blow it up?"
You'd be willing to go through 6 more years of what we just suffered in order to - MAYBE - get back to where we are right now?
If Joe wants to stay (and not at a max contract) then we should keep him. Otherwise, we need to go like crazy for a SNT.

Harry10, JJ is going to get paid, but probably not more than his current annual salary. He rolled the dice ignoring that offer last year, and he is going to pay in the wallet for his gamble. I will be glad to let him go and be a #2 or 3 somewhere else. It doesn't mean he is getting any further in the playoffs.
His true opinions come out in the few words he has spoken in his years here. No way JJ settles for Marvin Williams' money, which is another issue in itself.
For someone the city stood behind, he has just gotten too comfortable with his stance. So many people defended him as our leader, and he is anything except that.
Jamal is the one who has the pressure on him to fill the slot for now. Then we have to work on our 2 biggest weaknesses since the ASG took over: a big man and a leader as PG.
Give me Chris Paul, and would actually say, bring in Byron Scott, but that didn't work out in the end last time.
But I have seen enough of JJ to let someone else pay him his ridiculous numbers. Kinda like Tracy McGrady. So much talent, yet he just kills your options with his salary demands.

It took the Hawks 6 years because Babcock's refusal to rebuild through the draft(trading for Shareef,Glenn Robinson, etc)and Knight missing on nearly all his 1st and 2nd round picks from 04-07.

Babcock's trades were a mixed bag: some good, some disastrous. His drafts..... not so good, even though he had lottery picks to help.
Consider that he was recognized as a solid basketball man. Consider that you've just criticized BK's drafts. Why do you think, then, that we should depend on good drafts to rebuild? Might as well convince yourself that you can pick up lesbians by dousing yourself with pheromones.
We have good, young players in hand. They are valuable assets. Let's build on that core rather than hope on hitting it big on draft picks. I hope to keep Joe, but even if we can't, if we can SNT him for (at least) a good bench, we could be a very good team. And if we got lucky in the draft with another big man...

I would like to look back and see what Rick Sund has drafted before I say let him rebuild us through the draft.
I know a few names:
Johan Petro
Chris Wilcox
Robert Swift
I know he made the trade for Ray Allen and chose to move Gary Payton. I don't recall his Dallas transactions.
He has drafted Teague for us so far, and brought us JCrawford.

Knight was considered a solid basketball man? I'd have to ask why his teams' records were so terrible and why he's not a GM right now?

I'm not sure what major assets the Hawks have besides Al and Josh(who I want to keep). A Joe SNT just seems unlikely to me unless we're talking about a trade exception.

If you keep Horford and Smoove - plus you can't get anything for Marvelous and Teague, so you might as well keep them and hope they grow - then you aren't rebuilding and you're not "blowing" anything up.
So, how do you intend to do this "blowing up"?

Please read it again. I said BABCOCK was considered a solid basketball man.
Then, I said BK also tried to rebuild through the draft. My point is that trying to catch lightning in a bottle in the draft is an iffy proposition.
Babcock had - I think - 3 lottery picks: Rumeal Robinson, Adam Keefe and Stacey Augmon. BK also had 3: Childress, Marvelous and Horford.
You tell me how to get the #1 overall pick AND be lucky enough to have a star prospect available and I'll be all ears.
Instead, why not try to either keep Joe at a reasonable price or SNT him for the depth that'd make our bench very good? If we traded him to DEN, they could make our bench the best in the East. We could ask for Ty Lawson, J.R. Smith and lots of picks (or maybe Nene). If we traded him to POR, they could make us terrific down low, with Pryzbilla (we'd ask for Oden, but...) Bayless, Webster/Fernandez and picks.

Re: Jalen Rose: Joe is done with the Hawks
When did I say that the Hawks need to "blow the team up". I've said all along that the Hawks needed to avoid doing a trade such as Bibby+Teague for Calderon or Bibby+24 for Calderon. I don't want to add anymore money to a team who can't draw in fans or win a 2nd round game.
The rebuilding process could also force itself upon you. All it takes is losing one player+a couple of injuries(as opposed to everyone being healthy) and you can go from a 50 win team to the Warriors or Pistons overnight.

Wow. Save your money, stop buying lottery tickets and start a savings account.
Meanwhile, what would happen if we offered Joe and Bibby to NO for Paul and Stojakovic? Aren't they rumored to be desperate to lose Stojakovic's contract?

The thing is...there are cities like New York,Chicago,Miami, and LA with the money available to offer Joe. It would take a number of breaks to happen for us to even get the chance to negotiate a sign and trade with a team like Denver or Portland.
