HAWKS DREAM OFFSEASON!!!

Post#1 » by djjob23 » Sat May 15, 2010 7:23 am

Just drift out of reality... and use your imagination...

This is all a dream world where the Hawks say "**** it... we're going all the way" and they have everything go there way!

Draft:
(24) Solomon Alabi
(53) Greivis Vasquez (send Vasquez to D-League)

S&T Lebron James:
Atlanta trades: Josh Smith / Marvin Williams / 2 1sts
Atlanta Gets: S&T Lebron James
If Lebron chooses he does not want to resign, Cleveland wants to go back to square 1, AND FAST!!! This trade nets Cleveland a high flying, defensive junkie that can sell tickets / a #2 pick that has not been given a chance to show his potential / and 2 extra 1sts. The good thing is this trade is good talent wise, but these players are not gonna put you over the top. For the next few years, Cleveland will have lottery picks (hopefully high picks) that will step into Lebron's shoes (hopefully).

Resign Joe Johnson:
Why? He is not a #1, he's a #2 option. With a new coach coming in, Joe understands he failed here and he will want to accept a MAX contract where he can be a #1 option and try again. BUT, if Lebron were to come here, Joe sees a chance for a championship. NOW JJ loves money, but I'm not sure if he'd be able to turn down an appropriate offer to be able to play with Lebron. If he chooses not to, there are multiple players that would love to accept an MLE that will be able to fill that #2 option. Or even S&T him. For example:
Atlanta trades: S&T Joe Johnson
Atlanta gets: Andrea Bargnani / DeMar DeRozan / Reggie Evans

Resign or trade Josh Childress:
If the qualifying offer does not suffice Childress, trade his assets for a defensive PG. For example:
Atlanta trades: Josh Childress' rights / Mike Bibby
Atlanta gets: Andre Miller

Sign C Ian Mahinmi:
Why? He could be cheap. But I am not sure.

With signings:
Bibby (13) / Teague (20) / Crawford (15)
Johnson (30) / Crawford (13) / Childress (5)
James (30) / Childress (15) / MoEvans (3)
Mahinmi (20) / Horford (18) / James (10)
Horford (20) / Zaza (18) / Alabi (10)

With trades:
Miller (30) / Teague (18)
Crawford (30) / DeRozan (18)
James (40) / MoEvans (8)
Horford (20) / Bargnani (15) / Zaza (10) / Evans (3)
Bargnani (15) / Horford (18) Alabi (10) / Zaza (5)

Head Coach:
Lebron would have the honors of picking our coach.

I know this is all a dream because at the end of the day, the Hawks are not big spenders and they will try to make this offseason as cheap as possible. But would this be the perfect offseason or what?

technically the dream off season would be:

trade Bibby, Teague, Childress, and 1st round pick for cap space. hope that Evans walks.

that should give you about 17M to sign Lebron

sign Brad Miller, Flip Murry, and Roger Mason to MLE

Horford/Smoove/Marvin/Lebron/Crawford

...... that should get you about 70 wins.

I would get rid of Marvin and sign a Center.

Mine is get Marvin/filler to NO for D.Collison/Julian Wright. Mike Miller from the Wizards. Ty Corbin as coach. J Chill decides to come back. Joe resigns.

If you trade for and use cap space, you don't have your MLE and BAE anymore, just minimum contracts left.
And team can't trade expiring contract between season end and July, so you can't get any cap space unless you trade 7M for 6M and get 1M of space... so it will be hard to get anything with this way.
If you wanted to trade for expiring, it had to be done in February.

Not to say I don't want LeBron in the team I support.

That lineup might be worse than the lineup he has now. No real PG, no real Center. No defensive presence on the perimeter. And only one real three point threat. Eh......

It'd be great on NBA Live though. :)
