2nd Round Pick; #54

their is not going to be much talent at #54. i think Dexter Pittman would be a good pick up if he is available. he has a weight problem, and it will be something that he will have to deal with for his whole career, but he has slimmed down and has great size for the NBA, looks good at 300lbs, and i'm really impressed with his foot work and quickness for a big man. he is a confident rebounder, can grab the ball with one hand, unlike Kwame. he has a legit reach for an NBA center at 9'3. i think he could do a slightly better job at manning up and boxing out than Zoubek on somebody like Dwight.

JaJuan Johnson - productive big
Elijah Millsap - undersize but productive
Iman Shumpert - athletic and fluid
Landon Milbourne - know how to play his role
Brian Zoubek - 7'1, good rebounder
Manny Harris - good all around game

I would go with Hamady Ndiaye, or Art Parakhouski rather (if he falls) than Dexter Pittman. Ndiaye has much more defensive and rebounding potential while Parakhouski has to offer a lot more on the offensive end.

With the 53 pick I would consider Andy Rautins, Armon Johnson, Ryan Wittman, Jon Scheyer or even Matt Bouldin too. Each and every one of them could develop into a solid bench player.

I like Manny Harris or JaJuan Johnson thought. :) This will be a very deep draft with many talented players in the second round too.

I think there is tons of talent in this draft. I also don't think we need to restrict ourselves to big men with the second round, since the pool of big men at the 20-30 spot is both vast and relatively good. My picks (not in any order):

Dexter Pittman - kind of reminds me of a stronger, bigger, less skilled Big Baby
Jeremy Lin - lack of athleticism, but high BBIQ - I think he could be a Luke Ridnour or Shaun Livingston (post injury but healthy)
Eric Bledsoe - this year's Darren Collison? Doubt he slips to 54, but you never know

Shumpert never put his name in the draft and I think Johnson went back to Purdue before the May 8th deadline.

In the 2nd round, I think you just focus on finding the remaining player who is most likely to be able to make an NBA team.

I'll take any 4 year college player who can contribute a role or skill set off the bench at 53. I just don't want another pick of an International player who we'll never see in the 2nd round. It's one thing if you actually plan to bring the guy over and give him a real chance, but our International strategy has been a throwaway system so far.

Armon Johnson would be a steal if he falls that far. Pittman would be a reasonable risk. Vasquez maybe. Jajuan Johnson definitely went back to Purdue. It's a really late pick, but maybe we can luck into an energy rebounder off the bench.
