Trade Block Around The League

Mo Williams now appears to be on the block or Cleveland is just testing the waters to see what type of value they can get for him. If there is any truth to this,i believe Lebron is gone, and with the other changes the team has made (GM, etc).
D. West is also on the block, but I created a thread about it not long ago, and only $500k of his contract is guaranteed.
Anthony Randolph appears to be on the block. Th talks with Minny are saying a package that involves one or a combination of the 4th pick, Al Jefferson, or Kevin Love. I can see the pick and or Al Jefferson happening depending on the direction Minny wants to go.
If GS can can get a top 5 pick for Randolph, we should be able to get one for Josh Smith, if there comes a time we want to move him. I guess we'll see how the trade talks go between GS and Minny.
Eric Dampier is the obvious because his contract can free a team of $13 million if they acquire him. Mark Cuban & Donnie seem to believe they're players after Lebron James, but I highly doubt it, and their tunnel vision will cause them to pass on solid offers until Lebron is off the market. Atlanta should only consider a S&T with Dallas that involves Eric Dampier if Roddy B is included. Caron Butler, maybe? Besides that Dallas has nothing of value.

I would be surprised the Dallas would give away Dampier and Beaubois for JJ.

Dallas hasn't had a great track record when it comes to their PGs. They traded Harris for Kidd after all and let Nash walk because he was too expensive only to spend more on Dampier right after. I wouldn't at all be shocked if Cuban want's to win a ring while Dirk still wears the uniform by trading the potential of Roddy for Joe. I mean some have always thought that JET would have been the perfect fit next to Joe all his years here.

I agree that Roddy Beaubois is the true prize in Dallas (did we not scout him?) and very little else is attractive. I'm not sure that Dallas would see Joe and the final piece in a title that would compel them to include him.
As for Cleveland I suspect they are trying to address the shortcomings they had in the playoffs by shopping their back court. In a last ditch effort to improve their lineup to the liking of Lebron. If Lebron leaves then blowing up the lineup makes complete sense.
I don't get the Minnesota rumor. That seems like a awful lot for a package around Anthony Randolph. I see the promise, but the sample size on his is just so small and the offense is so different that it's hard to generalize from it. The logic seems to be that Love and Jefferson can't exist together, but that still doesn't make sense to just give one of them away for little return.
As for Josh Smith, he should have some good trade value, but I still want to see him with a coach other than Woodson and another summer of work on his game before I would pull the plug on him in a trade. Maybe it just feels that if we trade him out we are starting over, which might be necessary but still hard to swallow this year (next year might be a different story for me).

The only way I see Roddy being traded is if he helps Dallas acquire Lebron James. If Mark Cuban turns his interest to Joe Johnson once Lebron is off the market I see little return value for Atlanta. I wonder what type of value Rick Sund would fliip Eric Dampier for?
I have no idea if Rick Sund scouted Roddy but he was going to be the Cavs first round pick.
I expect Al Jefferson to get traded but he has took the Chris Bosh approach and plays the 4. Kevin Love to me is the favorite to stay, will be the starting 4, so his role off the bench will be a thing of the past. What type of value Minny can receive for Al can be debated, but they should get a good package for him. A good fit for Al would be New Jersey beside Lopez.

The odd bit is that Al Jeff and Love are both incompatible with GSW's tempo...and Randolph does D...which is why the Wolves want him....and want to move love or Jeff. GSW's half year rookies from the D league<Toliver + Hunter, shot a combined 70% for 48 pt against a Love/Darko front line. THAT is TURNSTILE. A Randolph had his best game playing C vs Dwight Howard. Big difference.
I doubt GSW is THAT hungry to move from 6 to 4

Bucks interested in Corey MaggetteBucks may be interested in another small forward - Corey Maggette of the Golden State Warriors.
It's no secret the Warriors have Maggette on the trading block - even though he is coming off a quality season in which he was the Warriors' second-leading scorer at 19.8 points a game. He also averaged 5.3 rebounds.
But Maggette has a fairly hefty contract - he still has three years, $31 million remaining on it - and the money-conscious Warriors would like to unload it.
The speculation is the Bucks are offering the Warriors center Dan Gadzuric, who has one year left on his contract for $7.4M, and guard Charlie Bell ($3.8M).

- If the Hawks decide to move Josh Smith, they have to get a big man in return. We must get a big man this offseason to combat with Howard.
- I bet Tyson Chandler is available even to a division foe. Hard to bite on that one year salary but I take him over Eddy Curry any day.
- Who says Dirk is a lock to stay in Dallas? It would make sense to me if he wanted to come East and try to get to another Finals. Can you say NJ to reunite with Devin Harris?
- Is there a chance Pierce opts out so he can get his team a big name to come in and sacrifice some salary? That would be a very shrewd move on Ainge's part if he can convince Stoudamire or JJ to sign there to replace Ray Allen.
- Bibby might have to be moved to avoid looking over the shoulder of Jeff Teague. It happened in Sacramento.
- Marvin's talent can be matched by most low cost options out there.
- Anyone think Iverson can come in and help a playoff contender after some time away? I would look at him before Shaq. You will get more games out of AI in the regular season.

1. Sure they have interest, but what do they have to offer?
2. I think Williams defensive failings is the scapegoat for the post season exit. If the Cavs can parlay him into other talented pieces I will be surprised. I take his all-star credentials with a grain of salt. Would he be an all-star level performer in a lineup without Lebron James?
3. Maggette is a player, but way overpaid. If you have expiring contracts or at least less painful contracts you can make a play for such players. It is standard NBA economics. The Bucks are being smart. Even if they had cap room they wouldn't be able to land quality free agents. The best way to improve their team is to turn expiring deals into better players. We have expiring deals as well to work with but the trade would be so one sided because our expiring is a contributor (Jamal). If GSW is getting offers for Maggette without the #6 pick in it then my suggested trade to try and get the 6 obviously wouldn't work. Even without the pick, it might be worth it to consider a Maggette and Biedrins for Williams, Bibby, and Zaza offer. While not expiring those deals offer GSW more useful talent with less troublesome contracts. Just a thought.

Kevin Love would automatically become a 20/12/3 guy on the Warriors like Lee did with the Knicks.

I think Kevin Love would thrive in Golden State's system if for no other reason the rebound and outlet pass skills. His offensive numbers would also get a boost from offensive rebounding putbacks.

Maggette deal is evidently done for Gadzuric and Bell. GSW sheds salary. Milwaukee gets some talent. Guess they let Salmons walk.
edit - lots of people are questioning the fit of Maggette in Skiles system. Could be a problem, but I see them desperate for offense, so I think it'll work.

Great addition for the Bucks if Corey Maggette is content with playing for them. No more headbands for Maggette under Scott Skiles.

You guys think there's any chance at all CP3 is actually availble...
man I wish our owners would spend anything necessary...trade Josh Smith and Teague/Zaza/Bibby for Paul. That pretty much will convince JJ to stay. Then all those guys have to do is convince Bosh he'd be a perfect fit...S&T Horford and Marvin or Bibby for him...amazing...
Back to real life...JJ walks to a team with cap space, we get nothing. We do nothing in offseason. Draft a foreign player with our pick who won't come over. Teague gets more minutes and turns out to be a 12-4 player...38-43 wins if healthy and bounced in first round.

MIL also got a 2nd in the deal for Maggette (it was the 1 that GSW got from POR in their trade down).
Am I the only one thinking that the MIL/Maggette marriage will not be a good one? I've never been one to think that one lineup can bear 2 slashers unless 1 is able to defer to the other and be a shooter on the kick out, and preferably both would be able to defer sometimes. I don't think that either Jennings or Maggette will be able to do that.

+1... 2x so for our assets.

Apparently, MIL also picked up Chris Douglas-Roberts for a future 2nd.

That's a trade I would have liked to see the Hawks do.
